I got Clyde a new and much larger cage today. Here it is, with his old one in the background. I guess we can let him sleep in the old one at night rather than carry this monster in and out of the bedroom.

That is a great idea. One for night night, and one for play and hanging out!

Since I moved all but one of his perches into his new cage, I carried that monster into the bedroom tonight to put him to bed, but it was a huge (in all senses of the word! biggrin.gif ) hassle, so I'm going to go with the original plan after this. He has a chewy perch that he doesn't like much, but which will be softer on his little feet for sleeping than the plastic one that came with the cage, so I'll put it back in his old cage for sleeping and pop him in there at night until I can get back to Petsmart for another comfy perch for sleeping. We had JUST gotten a routine worked out for getting out and getting back into the cage -- I'd open the top and he'd pop up like a jack-in-the-box and step onto my hand. For going back in, I had to have him on my right hand (his choice) and I'd open the door and he'd go right in with no argument. Now we have to figure a new way of getting out -- he likes to come out BEFORE stepping onto a hand -- but going back in is still the same. So far, we open the door and coax for a while and he'll finally come out and climb to the top of the new cage and sit there and think about it awhile before deigning to climb onto my hand. I do think he likes his new cage, though. He certainly has a LOT more room.

Looks good , yep ! I would be doing the little one up for a sleep cage leaving it in your bedroom (or where-ever he go`s to sleep)...can also double for a travel cage to go to the vets or visiting with you if you go somewhere over night..
He looks quite happy perched up there in his new digs WTG Clyde... smile.gif

Congrats on the new cage! smile.gif It looks like Clyde is very happy with his upgrade! biggrin.gif

Just a word of caution though... I'm pretty sure both those cages are Top Wing cages? (if they aren't ignore the rest of this, sorry!) I bought a Top Wing Cage (a small budgie one to use as a travel cage for Casey) and within a day it was already falling apart (Casey barely touched it too!). Hopefully Clyde isn't a chewer and you won't have a problem but I'm pretty sure Top Wing's cages aren't actually powder coated but just coated with a vinyl finishing which easily peals off when chewed (powder coating shouldn't peel off like ours did), so please keep an eye on that. I know I've seen others with similar concerns with their products too (similar problem) I just can't remember where! blush.gif

I saw those and I don't think this is a Top Flight cage. The sticker says Prevue Hendryx, but either way, Clyde isn't very hard on his cage. He does gnaw on the bars a bit, but he doesn't do any damage and now that I don't have to move it in and out of the bedroom -- he's sleeping in his old cage in the bedroom -- it won't get rattled around much. We carry it out on the deck on nice afternoons once the shade has moved up far enough, but that's only a few feet. I think it'll be all right, and he certainly seems to like it. I don't know if he liked being put to bed in his old cage. tongue.gif He was very puzzled by that. But I think he'll get used to it after a few days and realize that the old cage is his bedroom and the new one, his living room.
