Robert and I have been doing the all important searching for our first apartment (we won't be getting married or moving in together till we are out of college but we like to plan ahead). We found a place that is just wonderful but every 3 weeks they come in and spray for bugs and such. What is to be done about Griffin during that time? Is it toxic? I already asked and they will not not come and spray my apartment. I won't be moving far from my parents and they could probably take over the care for the bird and guinea pigs during the spray but how long would they need to be out till it was safe again?
Please help!!

i live in apt like that and no one has to remove any animals ever. its not even harmful for kids. they only spray baseboards on kitchen and bathrooms and those places my bird never sees. its odorless and color less and is more a mist than runny. i live in S tx though and they are spraying for roaches and ants here, not sure what they r spraying for there in OK.

I would think that the longest would be 24 hours

I lived somewhere that sprayed once a month and i just always requested for them not to spray and they never did.......if i was going to be home i would just tell them when they came to our door but if i was going to be gone i would leave a note on the door.......can you see if this si an option?

I don't think it is possible for them to skip our apartment. I kinda asked about it and the lady seemed to think it would not be allowed although she doesn't know for sure.

The problem with skipping an apartment is that a roach problem in 1 apartment can very quickly effect the entire building.
You could leave a note for the sprayers asking them to open windows in the rooms they spray in... you shouldn't have to remove your bird for more than 24 hours though

I agree, simply removing them, if it's possible, for 24 hours should be enough.
I'd never trust them if they said "it's completely harmless".

That will be fine. I will just have them moved to my parents house for 24 hours then bring them back! Thanks for all the help!!
