Who on here has found a parrot in their yard, etc...?

Was it wild, someone who was lost from the owner or ditched from a previous owner?

What kind of bird is/was it?

Do you still have it?

Nine years ago I did smile.gif
She was in my tree in the front yard, a lovie. I stuck my arm out and she landed on it......LOL
We did NOT look for her previous owner, cause I would have killed them....grrrrrr
This was the beginning of June, her beak was growing into her chest, and no way did she spend the winter outside, so someone LET her beak get that way sad.gif
We had her for about 3 years till she passed, she is the one that started my love of birds smile.gif

BTW Skipper I am also in Michigan smile.gif

I can answer that!! Thats how my husband found Xerxey. One hot afternoon Xerxey flew in to our back yard and i told my hubby to go and get the cage and lets catch him. so the next day hubby waited for him to come down to the cage and closed it with rope to pull the door shut and alas little xerxey isin our lives for ever. i doubt that he would have survived the winters here in the south as they can get down right cold. but it was ment to be that he came in to our lives. i wouldnt have it any other way.!! smile.gif we dont know if he was a wild parrot or someones pet but noone claimed him .

One evening at church, the cub scouts came running in with a budgie they found outside. Since I had cockatiels and a lovie at home, I offered to care for him (he was clearly a he) while we looked for an owner. One of the boys really wanted him and I told the parents I was willing to let him after we looked for an owner...never heard back from the parents. laugh.gif

Anyway, I put an ad in the local paper advertising a found parakeet but not color or gender. Got lots of calls for lost blue parakeets but not a green. We kept Erroll and had him for almost 4 years before he had to be euthanized.

He was a good little bird, I think someone let him loose because he was old or they just didn't want him any more.

My cats found a love bird in the back yard a few years ago, my kids happened to be outside and saw it too. One stayed with the bird the other came in and got me. He said "Mom, Cindy has a bird and it's all different colors". I went out to see what she had and it was a love bird. I brought it in and put into an old cage I had from two previous cockatiels I had. He/she lived for a about 3 years, I got home one day and he had passed. The cockatiels I had I got from a neighbor of my sisters that moved away and left the birds in the house in a cage to just die I guess. My sister was able to go into the house and get them out, she is not a bird person and I happened to be there visiting and I took them home. I could never handle them, they would really bite if your hand went in to the cage. They talked and sang up a storm, I miss them. They passed about 5 years ago about 6 month of each other. I was heart broken. I gave all my cages away to a bird rescue saying I would never get another bird. But look at me now.... a quaker, 2 parakeets, 3 finches and I love them all. Couldn't imagine my life without them!!

I have found parakeets but not been able to catch them, I think that they escaped from a pet store a few blocks from where i used to live! I tried and tried to catch them but never could! BUT there was an ad in the local paper a week ago where a couple had found one and were trying to find its owners! I keep thinking dang it why cant I get that lucky! lol I am trying to find a male cockatiel that needs a good home, but to no avail unless I want a baby and then I have no guarantee w/o testing that its a male!
