Hi guys,
I'm so excited. This Saturday is my first volunteer time with the local bird rescue.
I can't believe I'm this happy about cleaning a bazillion cages and sweeping floors
I'm happy that I'm finally able to help. And the owner said she would be happy to teach me about all the different birds behaviors. She also has access to a couple of classes that I can take to become "certified" (in what exactly, I'm not sure... I'll find out as I go)
WOO HOO!

Well, have fun and enjoy the time you'll get to spend time with all the different birds. You can learn a lot just by watching the birds.

You will so love it and learn so much in the process. I have been doing it for 12 years now. Its so fullfilling among other things. I have met alot of friends with my work in rescue and also I know lots of vets due to it as well. Its a great place to make contacts as well as get a ton of information.

No, the rescue is not amazing grace it's Ollies parrot perch / a place to call home.

Hope you have fun. Im glad that you can volunteer. it shows your love for the parrots. i volunteered at many wild bird rescue centers and the first things that you do as a beginner is clean cages, loads of laundry and sometimes you get to feed the birds. I also volunterred at a raptor center and that was way cool

I give it 2 weeks before the MBS sets in...what do you guys think? Should we take a bet?! lol

Two weeks for MBS - I don't think so. I'm going with almost instant!

Be carefull to make sure you clean your hands well and change clothes before handling you own birds again at home - even if all the birds have been health checked it's always better safe than sorry.

I am so envious, I would love to work at a place like that - there aren't any in SA I can find .
