My name is Stacey, and I'm a new quaker mommy. I've owned parakeets and cockatiels as well. I even bred cockatiels last year.
Right now I own 3 cockatiels and my quaker parrot. I got my quaker last Saturday at the Illini Bird Fanciers Bird Fair.
Let me introduce each bird with some info:
Phoebe --5 years old--female pied cockatiel (says pretty bird, wolf whistles, and makes kiss noises)
Riku --3 years old--male fallow cockatiel (says pretty bird, wolf whistles, and makes kiss noises)
Chi--2 years old--female white faced cockatiel (rarely wolf whistles, but she can) She was published in this year's Cockatiel magazine. (There's a pic of her in a nativity set)
B.B. --about a month old--Quaker parrot--I haven't had the bird sexed yet, but I plan to do so soon. Gender isn't an issue to me, but I hate to keep calling a bird as sweet as BB an "it".
BB is so sweet! When I go to leave the room anymore, usually for work or to go on a date, BB climbs to the side of the cage closest to the door and sits on a toy. Then BB purrs, and when I walk over to the cage, the sweetheart leans in for a kiss and lets me give it a head scratch before I leave. I had a hard time leaving today, BB was giving me the cutest little baby look.
The first 2 days I had some problems with biting. I have several pieces of my hand missing, but BB is getting much better about it. I have been getting after BB for biting, and praising a lot when I see good behavior. Today I did not get bitten once. So training is going great!
Here's some pictures!

A lil about me: I'm 18 years old, but I've had birds for the past 5 years. I'm an English major in college, planning to become a teacher and author. I also like to make and sell jewelry. I work at a Best Buy in the Digital Imaging (camera) department.
