I have been searching for the perfect cage and saw this one. http://birdcages4less.com/page/B/PROD/Smal...rd_Cages/PA5719

I really like the looks of it and think my babies would love it. I really like the seed guards on them though. If I go ahead and order it I will double check with them.

Just curious how your babies like this cage if they have it.

I have it, but without the shelves. Mine has worked out perfectly. Actually I have two but Julie gave me a great cage for Lili so I don't need it. It's sitting in my garage hopefully ready to be sold.

I know it wasn't that exact cage, but - I think it was Bones 6 - has the same cage and she said that her bird can get out on his own. We had looked at a few cages with those same latches and they seemed easy to get out out. You may want to see if you can find a local exotics or bird shop and Look at the cage (or some with similar locks) before buying).

I don't have that cage, but I really do like the look of it. I also saw a similar cage on this website http://www.hqbirdcages.com/hq_flight_cage.html Maybe the latches are different on this one. Also it is a little cheaper.

I have the HQ version of that cage with out all the ladders and shelves. I like the cage itself. and its not that hard to clean. However the thing I don't like about it is that there aren't separate doors for the food and water, you have to reach into the cage to change food and water. Which for the most part isn't a big deal unless you get some birds that aren't overly friendly and get cage aggressive quickly.

I can't tell from that picture if the shelves are removable or the ladders but if they aren't, I wouldn't get the cage. Most likely they are but you never know. I would also check out the breeder doors closely and see how they are kept closed because if they are kept closed the way they are on the HQ cage a crafty quaker could easily figure out how to get them open.

The only other thing about those type of cages and especially the ones with an upper and lower door is that it makes it hard to reach from front to back or the far corners of the cages to reach a bird if they don't want to come out And for me since I'm short and by myeslf its difficult to get perches connected to the back of the cage etc cuz I can't reach around from inside the cage with one hand and hold the perch while I'm trying to put the washer and wing nut on the outside. smile.gif wink.gif But that might not be a problem for you especially since you have other family members that could help you.

If the latches on the doors are the type where they just slip through a welded wire slot and then just flop, I don't care for those either, too easy for a smart bird to figure out, of course you can put snap hooks or something like that on them; but personally I'd rather have ones that are a little more difficult for a bird to get open.
