Thought i would finally update a pic of my new baby boy skye! and give n updated pic of oatis!!
Please ignore the fact they look like little scruffbags on the first couple of pics lol as they had just been bathed!!
the final pic is them asleep on the curtain pole!!
I am so shocked at todays behaviour!! lastnight oatis wanted to eat skye!! now they are purring at each other and preaning each other! skye went into oatis' cage followed by oatis who NEVER enters his cage unless he is put there lol and i had a heart attack thinking he would be sooooo agressive but he wasnt! he finally acknowledged his toys and has been swinging round on them which he hasnt done before and seems really happy to have skye in his cage!! seems like oatis is a different bird! just sits with skye and sorta shows him how to play with the toys! skye has even played with a few, well chewed a few!!
anyone think them sharing a cage is a good idea? seems to have chirped oatis up loads! he follows skye everywhere when out of cage and just plays and purrs at him in cage! would think theyd been together forever!!

I think if you cage them together, they'll forget YOU very soon ... if they became friends that fast, you will be out of their equation very quickly. If you want to keep them both as pets, let them have play time together as well as play time alone with you, but keep them in their own cages.
They are such CUTIES!!!!

Way to precious! I got tickled looking at the splatterings on the picture behind them (looks so much like home) lol Where I am putting the new QP baby has wood paneling walls as its an addition that is on our home and I am going to go get a clear shower curtain, hang it up outside to air out and put behind the new babies cage as my husband is a neat freak and I am so not(imagine the arguements here about that lol) And yes I have a zoo that he complains about daily lol

Awww, they are adorable!

I wouldn't suggest caging them together, they each need their own space to call 'home' and have a place to relax/sleep away from the other, and like Jo said they will quickly forget about you and only care about their 'mate'

so it's best IMO to cage them separately.
Congrats!

What adorable pictures!!! Its wonderful that they are so happy together. However, as already said not a good idea to make it a permanent arrangement. They will decide they like each other better than you and there is always the possibility of one becoming jealous or hormonal and hurting the other. Just like children they need their own space and privacy and playtime together is better.

We decided to house them together, maybe a bad move but they are very close and oatis seems soooo much happier! however during the day we are taking them into other rooms in the house and playing one on one with them (i am home all day) so that they still interact with us etc. it seems like oatis is mothering skye.they are fine during the day awau from another but lastnight we had hell! we had the sound of 2 screaching quakers for atleast an hour!even when both were covered!
maybe they just like sleep time together? skye didnt want his morning formula so i have left him and he is eating and doing what oatis did at first (sitting in food bowl almost like hes guarding it!) good job we have more than one food bowl eh haha! he seems to always be eating so i am confident he wont be on formula much longer.however i do want him to stay on formula for atleast another week as he isnt yet trying water. he is so different to oatis, however he is new here but he does the usualy quaker noise but he constantly opens his mouth as if to make a noise and nothing comes out!! hes trying though! they are both so amazingly different yet amazingly amazing hehe

my bf only surprised me for my bday with a sulphur crested cockatoo!! hes a teeny baby right now and i go see him tomorrow!!!!!! they are still as close! cant get skye to bath at all, oatis loves it! convinced skye is younger than i was told.hes spose 2 be 8 weeks and still acts like hes 5weeks old.he sleeps with his head right over to one side? is this normal behavious or is something wrong? he seems ok any other time!

she, like my quakers, will get outdoor time
so when they have barbecues etc i shall have to let her join my wuakers in winding her up by screaching haha! its like my quakers know i dont like my neighbours as everytime they see them when we r in garden they fluff up and squawk!! fine with anyone else though haha! loyal buggers :L
getting louder by the day aswell lol! i'd die if i had a quiet house anyways! but 2 quakers, a medium sulphur crested cockatoo,a rottweiler,a collie and 2 siamese cats is quite enough now i think! save for my outdoor aviary after that hehe!! not only can i get more fids but annoy the neighbours even more than having indoor fids!!she has a bird stand to feed the wild birds so she cant exactly say no to an aviary! we r both looking after birds haha! got a feeling i may end up with a greenwing macaw also as theirs one with the one im getting, they r same age! and i think my fella's gonna fall in love! a greenwing a cockatoo and 2quakers along with dogs barking and cats miaowing and a 2year old child is going to be fun :L

Awww, they are just adorable.
I have to agree about not keeping them caged together. They will eventually turn against you. I have 4 (well, 3 quakers, one conure) who are bonded: Lucy and Paco, and Charlie and Halle. They have lots of fun playing with each other during the day. They either play inside each others' cages together, or outside. But, will still stay friendly, unless I let them sleep together. Once they start sleeping together, they just almost attack anyone that comes near their cages.
If mine cannot be out of the cage, like in the morning, when I let my cockatiels have the run of the bird room, then I let Paco play with Lucy in her cage, and Charlie play with Halle in her cage. They are all still very sweet and friendly towards me. Though I do have to bribe them with treats to go back at the end of the day, the seem very content to have their own happy hut in their own cages.
Just watch their attitude closely, and you can always adjust accordingly.

Ours are caged together as they seem happier this way and we still make a point of taking them out of the cage by hand to prevent cage rage and we spend 1 on 1 human time with them and they are doing ok for now! They are both still tame as ever and oatis is still more for my partner! infact wont let skye near my partner but doesnt mind me snuggling up to skye!they play together out of cage during the day and sometimes in the cage but also spend quite a bit of time away from one another during the day.they just seem to like to snuggle at the end of the day and sleep together

See how it goes

If they do become aggressive or start to become less for us we will assess the cage situation but for now we are seeing how it goes

they are both very happy and both learning new things everyday!! Just have to wait and see i guess! skye seems more for humans until night time then he doesnt like to be alone and wants oatis to cuddle up!
so cute when they preen each other!
Oatis is weaned but still joins in on feed time with skye,he makes more noise and seems to like the food more lol skye doesnt seem keen on the food but isnt filling his crop enough to drop any feeds! i dropped the morning feed and the first day he was fine! his crop was quite full during the day but then he decided to not eat the next day so i have gone back to two feeds for another week to be sure hes ready for just the night feed
they are so different in charactor its unreal! skye is so shy compared to oatis! oatis has no fear at all where as skye treats everything with caution! even new treats!! maybe this is age, only time will tell!!

everyones advice is much appreciated thankyou

mine are inseperable at night and like to sort of keep apart most of the day,mad half hours here and there! sleep snuggled up like the last picture everynight

they both still crave human attention.Oatis more than skye.If i am honest Oatis is a much better bird, whether this is age or breeding i dont know! maybe as he is still young and had oatis! who knows but hes shy and quiet etc.Oatis wants to be centre of attention and shows off and will go to complete strangers if they will talk to him! may, split them for a few weeks and see how it goes.have to think about this one for a day or two though as i wouldnt want to split them up and make them both unhappy! people think kids are hard work! our fids r much worse haha
