Full Version: "different' Quaker

I have a Quaker that is different than any Quaker I've ever seen. I have a mated pair (blue female and green male), and one 'pet' (who doesn't believe he's a bird OR a 'pet'. He's a member of the family, thank you very much!). Anyway, he's different than any other I've seen, and I've haunted the bird fairs and breeders to find another like him. He's larger in size, but lighter in weight. His toes are thinner and longer, and his beak and feet are lighter in color. His grey area (forehead and chest) are lighter in color, and his belly is more 'neon' yellow-green. Also, the banded part of his chest doesn't extend as far down as my other Quakers. Anyone have one like this?

I'll try to get a photo of Chewie (the 'normal' green) and Chicken together so you can see the difference. Might take me a few days, though. My camera went dead for some unknown reason, so I'll have to borrow my friend's camera. Also, because Chicken doesn't think he's a bird, he won't be very happy to have his photo taken next to one (LOL!). Chicken doesn't seem to fit the descriptions of subspecies, so I was wondering if he was just an odd mutation.

Hmm, were there any other similar sized parrots of another species around when his mother was laying?
.... Hey, it could be possible.
GizmoAndGadget'sDad
is it possible that he is Pallid? The Lime green description makes me think Pallid. Green Pallid Quaker can be lighter in weight, Correct me if I am wrong but I believe in Pallids there beak and feet can also be lighter in color. A picture would be very helpful.

Kind of sounds like a Pallid Green or a Cinnamon? unsure.gif Looking forward to those pictures! smile.gif

If he doesn't like the other quakers I wouldn't try to take their pics together, someone could get hurt. Just take a pic of Chewie in good light, sounds like a pallid or cinnamon to me too.
