I read somewhere that you should eat with your bird because eating is a flock activity and it will make him happy if you do that, so for the last two nights I've sat myself and my supper down next to his cage and we've had supper together. He comes down from his highest perch (his favorite) and companionably munches his food while I eat mine. I gave him some of what I was having last night in a bowl and he completely ignored it, but he was very interested in my Spanish rice and meatballs tonight, so I scooped a little into his food dish and he chowed.

He even ate some off the fork while I was poking it through his food dish door. I gave him mostly rice, just a teeny bit of hamburger. He liked the rice very, very much. Maybe he didn't eat what I gave him last night because I put it in a separate bowl. I've tried giving him fruit and veggies and such and he usually tastes it to be polite but doesn't really eat anything if I don't hold it. He must've been a hand-fed baby. Apparently, I'm going to have to sit down with him and eat some, too, if I want him to try new things.
