While I was visiting Zazu yesterday, his brother had his "dad" visiting as well. Since Joey got to pick out some toys, I decided to see if Zazu was interested in any toys. Naturally, he was interested in toys.

We checked out foot toys first. I counted him liking the toy if he went to bite it, put it back if he moved away from it. The same thing for the hanging toys. The one hanging toy with the hat, he has one of those in his cage right now.

Zazu was very clear in his likes and dislikes so we ended up bringing the following home to put in his cage. It will all be waiting for him when he comes home.

He is not going to suffer from lack of toys, there was a lot there that he indicated he liked but that we didn't get. I know we eventually will since I seem to be incapable of going in there and NOT buying a new toy from the birdies

I really like the toothbrush toy! I've been thinking of giving Eli a toothbrush so maybe he'll learn how to use it as a tool - perhaps he'll brush off some of those pin feathers that he won't let us get at! tongue.gif

That toothbrush is a GREAT idea. I don't think I have any with the holes in it though.

I just relooked at yours. It's the toothbrush I use. You must have put a hole in it yourself, with a drill, right?

That one just looks like a toothbrush! You mean I can just buy Clyde a cheap toothbrush to play with??? laugh.gif We have the same problem with pin feathers. He'll only let me mess with them so long and only if he's in the right mood, yet I know they need taken care of.

I talked to a guy this week who has a whole house full of birds of all kinds and he said baby teething toys are safe for birds and cost a heckuva lot less than official "bird" toys, so I thought I'd look at those today. He suggested a set of those big plastic toy keys. He told me a Quaker would LOVE those. I also thought I'd get Clyde a pair of plastic baby sunglasses -- he loves to take my eyeglasses away from me and gnaw on them so maybe he'd like some of his own. Of course, I suspect that he likes to take mine just for the game of taking them from me and refusing to give them back, but we'll see.

Thanks so much for the photo -- I'll know what sort of thing to look for because Clyde ignores most toys and I don't want to buy a lot of stuff he won't like.

I didn't make the toothbrush toy, I got it from Zazu's breeder. In looking at it, it is just a plain toothbrush with three holes drilled in. There is plastic string with beads and then the plastic paci on the end. I am sure it would be very easy to do, about a minute to drill all three holes in.

If you have Molly's Bird Toys near you, they are always a hit with my 'tiels and Zazu liked every one of the ones I showed him. I know you can buy them online as well.

Zazu immediately went for the toothbrush, my tiels backed away when I showed it to them laugh.gif Our budgie is convinced all toys are there to kill him.

I am a total toy nut, I love getting all kinds of toys and switching them around frequently.

Denise, I just started a thread about odd bird toys that most of us don't think of. You inspired me. LOL
