Denise just made a post about some toys she just got for Zazu. One was a hanging toothbrush, which I think is just great.
Does anyone else have an "off the wall" item that your bird likes, but is kind of odd to us? LOL

Kiwi has a set of baby keys that he loves. His favorite toy is a paper towel. He kills them as soon as he can get his beak on them. If you have one in your hand he will bite the crap out of you to get it. I am going to try the toothbrush...

louie likes a very specific set of measuring spoons. metal ones that make a lot of noise.
kleenex, paper towels.
most of the other stuff he digs is "normal" type toys, like gigantic jacks, checkers, milk jug caps, etc.

All of my birds cages have Stainless steel measuring spoons in them. Also the stainless measuring cups as well.It seems one bird can set the others off

One starts claning his cups and spoons around and the other two will start LOL
Dodger likes his beads

He will take them out of his little toy box..pile them to the side and then start one by one putting them back
Sebastion favorite thing is a small stainless steel bucket that hangs on his treestand. If he has already taken out the foot toys and treats.. he then yells into to hear the echo LOL
Shelby's favoite toys are empty plastic soda bottles

I put a few in shell nuts in it for her and she shakes that thing for along time before she finally starts trying to get the nuts out

Pickle loves shoestrings, with straw sections and without. He loves to pull them across the top of his cage, criss crossing them like he's working a puzzle.

Mollie has these extra large jacks (they are really toys from the cat bin at Pets Mart), she lines them up and wedges them in the bars of her cage. I usually take them down, at least once a day and put them in an empty food cup that is a toy box for her. Then she takes them and wedges them in different areas again. She really has fun with these even twirling them between her foot and beak.

My husband works in a bank and he brings home the ends of the register and adding machine tape and Petey loves to unroll them and tear them up!

Clyde likes to take my eyeglasses off and play with them and refuse to give them back. He also likes to chew on the bill of my husband's ball cap. The jacks sound like a really good idea. I'm going to get him some of those.

Eli would rather play with household stuff than his toys.
I do get the cheap cat balls with the bells in them - He HATES them and tries to beat them up (it's hysterical for me!)
We use plastic bottle tops, popsicle sticks, bamboo skewers, coffee filters, I did find a set of plastic baby keys at a garage sale for really cheap. I hunt garage sales for "bird toys" It's a great place to get stuff CHEEP

Truman loves the cup lids you get for your soda at fast food places. He chews 'em as fast as I can hang 'em. He also loves adding machine paper rolls.

Wallace loves his glasses. So we bought the cheap little kids plastic sunglasses and popped the lenses out of them. It's probably his favorite toy. He loves to carry them around and tries to build with them.

Angie "Gypsgal" sent me some baby keys and CG loves them! Thank you so much Angie ~!!!
A Another one Kate told me about the 12/24 cans case soda pop. Just stuff it with shredder newspaper in it and one of her little birdies loves to hide under all of the shredder newspaper and scratch around!

What a wonderful idea! I bought a set of tiny metal measureing spoons for measuring my aquatic plant fertilizer. It came with a matching set of larger measuring spoons. I just hung the larger spoons on SweetPea's cage - He is now very busy attacking them. What a hoot!
SweetPea also loves those fast food drink tops. He waits for me to not pay attention for one second and he's got it off the cup and is quite proud of himself. He also loves to shred paper, so I cut a phone book into thirds and threaded it through the cage bars. Oh, and he loves to take the paper off of fast food straws.

Clyde loves to take off my eyeglasses and play with them and refuse to give them back, and I've been thinking about getting him some kiddie sunglasses, so when I saw Wallace with his, I made up my mind to do just that the next chance I got.
So ... I bought Clyde some today and when I offered them to him, he freaked and squawked and flew away. He usually only flies when he's frightened. Sigh. So I retrieved him and put the sunglasses on so he could steal them and he did, and played with them. Clearly it's not the glasses, it's the stealing that's the fun part. LOL

That is too funny! I wear glasses and my new birdie has already decided they'd be fun! So far the only other thing he's played with is to steal my diamond stud out of my ear, three times! He's good at it! I have some hospital style tape I'm keeping on the table and I've been placing a small piece over the earring and so far it's deterred him. I'm thinking a trip to the dollar store for some sunglasses and baby teething keys is in my near future.

Elliot and Spree are both obsessed with hair ties. I cannot wear my hair up anymore because it only takes them seconds to pull is down and break the hair tie!
Also...be careful with tooth brushes...I read in Bird Talk that they can contain lead!!
