huh.gif I am wondering if anyone else is having problems with their birds when they see a garden hose. Every time Joey sees one across the street she screams. I can tell right away if someone has their hose out. Or is it he thinks its a snake? Any ideas?

Clyde is the same way with anything long and thin like that. He hates yarn, for example. We think he thinks it's a snake, so it's possible yours does.

I heard something like that about a bird when I visited a rescue near my home, before getting Petey. The Citron Crested Too had been kept in a room with numerous large snake cages. He is now terrified of cords so he needed to be removed from the room before the rescue woman could vacuum.

im guessing that as well that they may see garden hoses as snakes??

I was not sure whether he thought it was a snake and scared as it would be in his natural instincts to be a predator or not, or if maybe he was startled by a hose before he was re homed with me. I sure do know when someone has a hose out alright.

So funny what some are afraid of. Mine is scared of the vacuum cleaner, my daughters violin and garbage bags. Makes this funny rak rak sound, I know it means get that thing away from me! But he loves to play in the hose.

Pascal hates hoses, extension cords and the broom; all are long and thin, so I can understand. But what puzzles me is why he's convinced that the blue bin I use for weeds will swallow his soul. Oh, and the green plastic snow sled. He's fine with the vacuum, coffee grinder, even my son's trombone. But plastic objects? Death!

All birds here do the same thing! We are doing some construction around the house and if they see the long air compressor hose the macaws FLIP OUT! The first time they did I couldn't figure out the problem.By the time I discovered it was the hose there was feathers all over the room form the flapping!
We assumed that they thought they were seeing a snake.......

Pixie hasn't seen any garden hoses or extension cords (all hardwood floors - we don't have a vacuum) but she HATES the tape measure. And Sprite hates it if I crochet next to his cage.
