In London KY,there is a flea market called Flealand. Last weekend in the back southwest corner outside, under a white canopy a woman has a cockatiel in a filthy cage, no toys, one perch and hardly no food. We got the woman to give it water, bird about leaped in the dish after it. But couldn't get her to feed it, said the seed hulls in the bowl were food. Anyway I couldn't take him as I was there temporarily helping my mom care for my ill dad and had no way to get him home. This market doesn't seem to care how some people care for the animals but this is the first time I've seen a bird there. The woman who runs the booth with the bird also has ducks, goats, chickens, and other things. Someone please go rescue this little guy. I feel so bad that I couldn't take him but I had to come home to MI and didn't have a way. I know there are a lot of good people here and I am hoping someone can help him. I didn't ask what she wanted for him but I bet there is no vet check, there was no band, she probably doesn't know if its male or female. She acts like she knows everything but I bet you could ask her things she can't answer and it should be an easy sell.

Try calling the local RSPCA or other animal cruelty prevention agency - if the bird has no access to food and/or water it's a crime and they should be able to take the bird away, even if they can't take the bird they can probably frighten the %$*# out of the woman with it so hopefully things will change.

That is so sad and i am freaking angry i am crying rite now... i hate to hear that i know this goes on all the time but -- well if i was there i would save that little fid then probably smack her some people just dont belong having animals at all

That is so sad. I hope someone close comes along to help. I don't know how much the animal protective league will do. In my area pet birds are not in their jurisdiction and they don't have much control

How I wish I could get to KY! I would grab that poor tiel as I want one badly right now! UGH some people shouldnt be allowed to have animals

Thats how I feel, would like to just have grabbed him and ran! Talked to a sheriff in KY and said there isn't too much they can do said he would talk to her. Flea market is on hwy 229. I was so upset but my dad was in and out of the hospital fighting cancer and all that goes with it and I just couldn't take him.

We need to do a search on bird rescues in Kentucky and I'm sure one will get there and see that this bird gets some help. I think we'd all like to slap that woman silly
