Because Clyde occasionally decides to take a flight around the house, but isn't really good at finding places to land, we bought some dowel rods today and my husband fixed up perches here and there in the house for Clyde to use as "landing pads," as Hubby called them. We showed them to Clyde and he was lukewarm.

He seemed to think we expected him to just sit on them while we only intend them for places for him to land. He doesn't fly much, but if he does take a notion, he's pretty good about landing on an offered arm -- maybe he thinks he's a falcon?

Still, we thought if he had perches and knew where they were, he could fly to them instead of flapping around squawking and ending up, occasionally, on top of the entertainment center or in the middle of the bed. Our house is an open floor plan thanks to us knocking out all the walls we could, so he can fly about anywhere he wants to. I was hoping he'd like the perches so that I could put him on them to fold laundry or something, instead of him insisting on sitting on my shoulder, but he's convinced that if he's out of his cage, he should be on a shoulder. We're working on it.

He spent most of today on my shoulder, and seems content to sit there for hours, with the occasional nip at my ear or snuggle to remind me he's there. Like I could forget it, with those little toenails poking me.
