I got my bird the same day he was weaned, and he ate mostly pellets and a few seeds at first.
But now..... i guess i have spoiled him because he absolutly refuses to eat any pellets. he usually eats wheat bread, eggs, cereal, noodles and stuff, but i have been worried about all the nutritional value and tried to get him to eat his pellets, and Midori will have nothing to do with them.

So i tried to get creative after reading the birdie bread thread, and i crushed up alot of pellets, added a little bit of millet seed, and mixed it all up with one egg. i guess you can say i made birdy scrambled eggs biggrin.gif.

Does anyone have any ideas to get Midori to eat his pellets, and about the long term health of giving your bird eggs? I've already cut back on the human food by a lot.

i'm inclined to say that eggs should be a once a week thing. my birds don't care for eggs, so it's not something that's on my radar, but knowing about the cautions for humans, and how birds are so much smaller (therefore, lesser amounts could cause the same amount of damage), i would err on the side of less vs more often.

you leave the pellets available all the time, right? and are you weighing your little one to make sure he/she isn't losing weight? could it be that he is eating pellets when you aren't around? do you have a routine? my birds get breakfast before i leave for work, pellets to nibble on during the day, birdy dinner when i get home, some of what we are having (as long as it's appropriate) a bit later, and pellets again until bedtime. and sometimes some snacks too, like popcorn or a small wheat cracker, maybe on special occasions some toast. we keep our meal time routine even on weekends, they just eat in a different location smile.gif

just some thoughts.
