After years of trying everything, including the suggestions on the forum for switching my birds over to pellets, I finally found one they will eat. I have never seen such hard headed, determined birds. I tried every pellet known to man and bird with very little results.
A good friend uses Harrison's and her birds love it, so several years ago, I bought Harrison's. I wound up giving it to her. Mine turned up their snobby little noses and refused to eat.
I tried Kaytee, every blend, Zupree, (they ate a little). I went through all the stores enventory in the bird department and had bag after bag of food to give to friends. I even let them get REALLY hungry (shame on me). "NO...we want a tiny bit of pellets mixed in with a lot of seeds, see?"
Well, I can't find it anywhere within 127 miles of here, so I finally broke down and spent a small fortune on line, plus some outrageous shipping for Roudybush and they actually like it! rolleyes.gif
I think this makes me happy, but happy and broke don't belong in the same sentence! At this price, the birds will eat a lot better than I do.
They sent a free sample of rice treats and they grabbed it like it was candy!

laugh.gif Weeza, just like a little fid..sounds a lot like Harley...I've been in the same boat, almost.......And now, he gets Roudybush Crumbles and Harrison's Lifetime Fine mixed together and he is beginning to eat that...He use to be on Harrison's a long time ago too, and he seemeed to have gotten tired of it, so I changed him to something, forgot now, but anyway he is a picky eater....and I've tried him with spinach and sweet potato, no go....so, along with his pellets, he gets veggies of sugar peas, another kind of bean and corn in the afternoon....I think he was getting too many treats so I cut all that out and I'm MAKING him eat pellets... tongue.gif the little poot....

I'm glad you finally found something that your babies will eat...they sure can cost us a lot on wasted foods to try them on..I have thrown out a lot of stuff that I ordered thinking he would try them, no go again...so the wild birds got it....

I'm going to pm you Weeza and give you the place where I order Harley's pellets...it isn't expensive at all....(correction-I'm going to e-mail you lady friend)...

I have to order my roudybush also. I mix it with natural zupreem. Sometimes I mix in a bag of the zupreem avian entree..garden goodness. I stay away from the colors. I order the big bag from doctors foster and smith catalog. I dont think its any higher than some of the other kinds. Plus the shipping is as cheap as the gas and the tax that it would take to drive 30 miles to buy it. And that is if I could find it somewhere.

Gosh what do you all pay for Roudybush? I paid 11.25 last week for a 44 oz bag and I found it for 10.99 really close to my house at a store I hate to shop at because they sell puppies BUT its so close I can walk it I felt like it (not likely to happen) lol I am in southern VA so I am curious what it costs others since gas is so widely spread out in price too we are paying $3.72 for regular now and that is the cheapest around here

I threw my foster and smith magazine away. So im not sure what I paid. But I usually get the 25lb. bag{i think. It may be 20lb.} Anyway, it is MUCH cheaper that way than the smaller bags. But I have 6 that i feed it to and an extra fridge to keep it in. smile.gif Gas is about that here too. There is no tax to order it but you do have to pay shipping.
