HELLO EVERYONE,
MY NAME IS SASSY33 AND I AM THE MOM OF A VERY LARGE BUNCH. HERE WE HAVE 3 DOGS,15 GOLDFISH, 3 TIELS, 1 RINGNECK PARAKEET AND BEST OF ALL OUR NEW LITTLE QUAKER BUNDLE.
WE JUST BROUGHT HIM HOME THURSDAY EVENING, HE IS 11 WEEKS OLD NOW. I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF KNOWING HIM SINCE HE WAS 3 WEEKS. WE WENT TO THE PET SHOP EVERY OTHER DAY TO SPEND SOME TIME WITH HIM. THE PEOPLE THAT WORK THERE SAID HE WAS THE TAMES ONE OUT OF ALL FOUR OF THEM. ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT KNOWN IF MY QUAKER IS MALE OR FEMALE. TO ME IT DOES NOT MATTER, I'LL LOVE HIM EITHER WAY.
HE DOSEN'T SAY MUCH OR MAKE ANY NOISE. I DO WATCH HIM TO MAKE SURE HE EATS AND DRINKS WATER. HE KNOWS HIS NAME ALREADY AND IF HE FEELS LIKE IT, HE'LL GIVE KISSES. NOT OFTEN.WE HAD HAD A QUAKER BEFORE TOBY, HIS NAME WAS PORKY AND WE GOT HIM FREE OUT OF THE PAPER. WE HAD HIM FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AND HE PASSED AWAY THIS PASS FEBRUARY.THAT LITTLE BIRD LEFT A BIG HOLE IN MY HEART WHEN HE LEFT ME. HE WAS THE FIRST ONE I SAID HELLO TO IN THE MORNING AND WHEN I CAME HOME FROM WORK, HE EVEN HELPED ME CLEAN THE HOUSE ON THE WEEKENDS.SUNDAYS I BELIEVE WAS THE HARDEST CAUSE WE CHILLED ALL DAY ON THE LOVESEAT JUST HIM AND ME WATCHING TV,GIVING KISSES AND GROOMING EACH OTHER.
EVEN THOUGH THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER LIKE HIM AND I CAN'T REPLACE HIM FOR ANYTHING, TOBY HAS IN HIS 4 DAYS HERE AND HIS OWN SPECIAL WAY HELPED.
THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS. AND FOR LETTING ME SPILL MY GUTS OUT. wub.gif wub.gif

Welcome, Linda smile.gif

Sorry you've lost a Quaker, but I'm glad that you've decided to add another one. They are such wonderful little parrots.

Looking forward to pictures of your Quaker, as well as your other fids.

Welcome to the forum. Quaker are the greatest!!!! My little Tiki keeps me so entertained. Yesterday I heard him teaching our baby African Grey. Amazingly he asked her "what does a chicken say?" and SHE ANSWERED him. She hasn't answered us yet, so I think it is great. The funny thing is that she copies his squeaky little tone. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

WOW, THAT'S GREAT. I HAVE HAD MINE FOR ALMOST 2 WEEKS AND HE DON'T SAY ANYTHING. BUT HE SEEMS TO KNOW SOMETHING THAT I SAY TO HIM. I GUESS THATS A START.
MY OTHER QP WAS NOT DESTRUCTIVE BUT TOBY IS, HE HAS ALREADY ATE A SMALL HOLE IN MY WALL BY HIS CAGE. SO I HAD TO PULL IT OUT A LITTLE SO HE CAN'T REACH IT.
I WISHED HE'D BE AS DETEMENED TO PLAYED WITH HIS TOYS AS HE IS TO EAT THE WALL AND MANTLE.

Welcome and I am sorry to hear about the loss of your quaker. We lost Oatmeal (Quaker) in January and got Pixie as a four week old baby in June. Pixie can't replace Oatmeal and so far they have different personalities but it sure is great to have a quaker in the house again. They are such fun.
