How old is your Quaker?
Some of them aren't big shedders... Casey likes to shred those finger trap things, birdie bagels, wood, paper, etc. I don't recommend letting him chew on toilet paper rolls though as some people say that the glue where the paper was attached contains zinc which can be harmful to the birds.

Most of Casey's shreddable toys are in the form of a toy, so they can in the cage... she also has some foot toys (like the really small birdie bagels) that she carries around and shreds outside of the cage.

Some people have a little 'toy bin' on the bottom of the cage where they keep the little foot toys etc. and the birds go down to get them and bring them up to the perches to play.
Hope that helps!

Clyde's not big on shredding. I give him a paper towel and it lasts for days (until he poops on it!) and he just kind of pokes at it.

Truman has a finger trap toy that he just loves shredding. He's also big on adding machine paper, which I keep hanging in his cage, and he loves chewing up drink cup lids like you get at fast food places. He's big on wood toys too...he's a destructive little cuss! Lately he's been pulling the paper towels out of his happy hut to chew, but that's a new behavior...don't know what started it, since he has plenty of other chew toys.

Mollie seems to love those pinata toys, they are made with several layers so they last for awhile. I have bought her I think 3 or 4 in the past 18 months. I also get her the shredders that come in a long strip and you can cut off what ever length you want and attach in their cage.

I have a 9 week old Quaker baby, he LOVES a toy that I made him, I took a cat toy ball and tied it up on a piece of leather, then I strung beads on it and he plays ALOT w/ that! And his other favorite is when I take a long piece of shredder and tie a big knot ball in one end and then weave the other end through the bars of his cage, it looks like a punching bag for him and he plays all day w/ that!!

our 6 month old?(times a flying by lol) LOVES to shred the finger shredders as well as paper towel ripped in half and skewered on a bamboo skewer and threaded between the bars of the cage... he also likes to carry around popsicle sticks as well as plastic straws ... We've also given him coffee filters to shred...
hmm another idea is to put bites of a treat like a nutriberry into a small piece of paper towel and twist it like a candy wrapper and weave it through the bars.. make sure your qp sees you doing t and they'll have fun shredding it to find the treat.. great foraging toy
Good luck!

Truman was five months old when I got him. I noticed a chew-up shred toy in his cage at the pet shop, but he was housed with another QP so I don't know whose handiwork that was. He started playing once he got settled in...probably within a couple of weeks. He started with one toy and focused only on that one for awhile, but now he plays with multiple things.

My birds like it when I stuff a rolled up piece of paper into the bars of the cage. I also show them that I am hiding a treat in a ball of paper. Tiki goes for the treat, and then shreds the paper. His favorite though is tissue paper, I think because it makes such great spit balls.
