I saw on here somewhere that Quakers like to play with plastic pop bottle caps and since Clyde won't play with much of anything, I figured what the heck and gave him one and he DID play with it. Not for long, but a little bit. Picked it up and pushed it around and gnawed on it. Wow. Talk about a cheap bird toy. laugh.gif That's even cheaper than letting him chew off my hair ties every day. Which is what he's doing right now.

haha Clyde cracks me up... kiwi loves bottle caps too.. well really just about anything he can use as a foot toy..

so a success... Clyde could like foot toys... i'd try some other things like put a hole through a pop cap and tie a piece of leather through it ... he may decide he likes leather too.. if he does.. that could open a whole world of exciting new things you can create for him wink.gifc

My Quakers don't like bottle caps, but my Nanday goes crazy for them. She can spot one from across the room. We save them and put a bunch in a coffee cup and that keeps her busy for hours!

I hadn't thought of that. I'll try putting several in something in his cage and maybe when he's not playing with me, he'll play with them.

like a toy box idea? find some random potential "likeable" items for clydle and let him watch you as you make a fuss over each one and put it in his toy box.. even silly sutff like a half peice of crunch up paper wink.gif then put it in his cage...

it'll be easy to tell if he's inspected items cause he'll most likely toss em outta the box lol silly fid
LoveRoss
that is actually one of ross's FAV'S!!! that and any type of glasses

I did buy Clyde a pair of kiddie sunglasses to play with but he doesn't want them unless I put them on and he can steal them from me. I'll try putting some stuff in a cup in his cage and see what happens. Today I was cleaning his cage while he played at being a buzzard on top of it, and to keep him there so I could clean, I gave him his treat cup full of treats, and the little stinker would pick stuff out of it and drop it on my head and then chuckle. laugh.gif I'm trying to teach him, and having some success at it, that when he does something like that, I say, "Oh, you think you're funny" and then he's supposed to chuckle. He was already chuckling about dropping stuff on my head anyway, so when I figured out that he was doing it on purpose, I said, "Oh, you think you're funny" and he did chuckle again.

Truman likes to drop things on the cats! Their food dishes are near his cage, so anytime they're around and he has toys on top of his cage, they get bombarded.

I'll have to try pop caps on him. That's one thing I haven't tried yet, but I'll bet he'd like 'em since he likes most other kinds of lids. At the very least, they'll be something else for him to drop on the poor felines.

Gotta love those cheap toys biggrin.gif
Midori
Since Midori goes with me most of the time outside, i carry bottlecaps in my pockets all the time to entertain him.

Midori is a really well behaved fid, yet when he is restless or just being kinda "bad" at home, I sit with him at the computer and play a song and sing it, well, more like just speaking the song, he gets really excited, and screeches and squaks with me. Now he has favorite songs, so when he is acting up and we are not at home, all i have to do is sing a few lyrics of the songs hes heard, and it gets his attention and he almost always quits whatever he is doing and stares at my mouth. Its really cute.
Tattle's Mom
I collected water bottle caps for a few weeks and then strung them all together to make a huge vine like toy weaved all around my Yoshi's cage. He loves climbing all over it and swinging it around, he even sleeps all fluffed up next to it at night. <3

You just put the bottle caps in the bottom of the cage?

Clyde likes to sit on top of his cage and I put it up there for him. He'll only go to the bottom of his cage to eat or bathe and spends the rest of his time near the top, where there isn't anywhere to set a cap.
HanksDad
Hank loves bottle caps. Sometimes I fill them with water or fruit juice and he'll drink out of them and then carry them around before dropping them on the floor.

I've also found out that he does the same with Q-Tips. I'll lay 3 or 4 of them out on the counter. He'll play with them for a while picking one up and laying it on top of another and then he'll start dropping them off the side one by one. Then it's my turn to pick them up and put them back so we can start the whole process over again.

As for expensive toys, Hank has declared all out war on anything that has soft buttons on it. He'll tear the numbers/buttons off of just about anything. I have remote controls for my tv but can't use them to change the channel and I have telephones that I can't call anyone on since he's pulled the numbers off. I obviously don't encourage this but all it takes is a second and he's got a hold of it.
Crazyrena
im going to try that with my new fid he might like that. great idea by the way thanks
