Quaker Parrots Forum > For Pet Lovers > Avian Re-Homing > Needs New Home

Hi, Im looking for a new feathered family member to adopt. I live in eastern Iowa. Ive been reading a lot about Quakers, GCC, Caiques, and Senegals and find them appealing but there may be others Id consider if the situation was right. Ive never owned a large bird, just keets and a cockatiel. Been searching the internet for a Quaker for a couple months now and not finding much in my area. Thanks for reading...and good luck all with your rehomed fids biggrin.gif

There is a link to join a Yahoo Group named HealthipetNetwork. They are all avian lovers, some rescues, some breeders. There are always birds needing help on there. I strongly recommend joining!

If you wish to make the trip to St. Louis, I am positive we can fit you into the right bird! LOL ... if you wish to keep closer to home, I am quite certain that group will help!

I wish you would have written this a day or two earlier! My daughter lives in Coralville and was just home. I am trying to rehome my quaker and lovebird. We are about 2 hours from the quad cites.

If you are sure you can stand the noise of a bird, are dedicated to loving and caring for a bird properly, will think of it as a baby that needs a parront for the rest of it's life, a drive to St Loius would be well worth your while. There you'd find a caring person who gives her all to the safety and care of the birds she houses and for which she will find the best homes possible.
E-mail her, talk to her and see if she has the bird of a lifetime for you. I, for one, am sure you'll be happy you did.
Just my humble advice. You know that advice is worth exactly what it costs, but we all know this lady would have advice for you that IS worth a LOT and would never steer you in the wrong direction.
I hope you find a bird that will lift your spirits to the sky, warm your heart and light your life.

There are so many birds out there needing a home and more than anything...LOVE. One has your name on it somewhere.

Wow, your daughter lives in Coralville? Im in Iowa City. I see you have a buddy lovebird for your quaker, that is sweet, and I respect wanting to place them together but not sure if the family would go for 2 new birds instead of 1. And thanks for the input and support all, great community here. smile.gif
