Just when I have it all decided that there will be no additions to our family, that we are great the way we are...OH NO...someone has other plans. dry.gif It's not a human laugh.gif ... This next week Hoppy gets a husband. We found an adult roo available from a fantastic breeder in TX and he'll be here end of this week beginning of next depending on the temps. We're suppose to have a heat wave this week mellow.gif but we know how meteorologists are...LOL. "Yoda" or as Axel is calling him "Dollar" now, go figure, is 5 years old and proven. SO we're very excited for joeys this spring (keep fingers crossed). This addition was actually planned, but we weren't really ready.

Our second arrival was absolutely a suprise and a bit of a rescue. I need to have my bloody head examined! We now have a Bandit, thief, sneek, yeah I have a ferret. His name is Bandit and is 1 yr old. He came neutered and descented, and is VERY sweet. He absolutely loves the dogs and cats, doesn't show interest in the birds other than General (the ol' amazon with a bad attitude) who he tried to eat (Luckily I beat him to the bite). I'll post photos when I get my camera back from my mom huh.gif .

The next addition news (NO STILL NOT A HUMAN) we will be expecting 10 quakers to the flight outdoors. A man died in Seattle and my buddy is helping his family place his birds. SO they are coming to mom and me, 8 greens 2 blues (genders unknown). They are breeders and not so friendly, so they'll fit in with the rest LOL.

That's the update, just working otherwise and trying to sleep. Hurt my shoulder at UPS a couple weeks ago, and go to the neurologist for the arm and hand numbness in Sept...otherwise I'm in a holding pattern.

I hope all of my QP.Com pals are doing well this summer!

Well, the ferret adoption took place on Saturday so we're only a few days into it. When he arrived, he was in a box with a wash cloth, a bag of crappy food and a hammock. No cage or travel container... nothing...appearantly they kept him in a dog crate w/o a litter pan because "he wouldn't box train"...hmmm

I happened to have mom's cage that came with a rescue quaker (it is HUGE) and is about the size of the 4 story ferret houses, with out the platforms. I washed that up and put him in there with an old sheet and some birdie foot toys I had laying about for the first night. I did manage to pick up some better food and started him on that along with some new toys and ideas to make his cage SUPER COOL smile.gif Mom is going to help me out since i have a bad wing and all. Dryer venting is a great toy, I had a 3' chunck left from when I hooked up my dryer (Seven years ago, I'm a pack rat), added one of Hoppy's old bags for a sleep/play bag and some rubber jax. We're thinking of how we're going to add multiple levels and more fun stuff. I'll be switching his diet to Zupreem (was able to pick up a sample bag to start the switch and mix with the mazuri I picked up Saturday). Picked up my "Ferrets for Dummies" book today also. We're on a roll. I have to say I am quite taken with the little weasel. I also got him some cool cat "weeble wobble" toys, and he's diggin the fight with 'em. He loves the dogs (even if Mugan won't leave him alone when it's time to rest...) and has a fondness for my laundry hamper blush.gif as a hidey hole, and I found a stash of used dryer sheets under my chair in the living room (a treasure hidey spot? or a collection from the dust bunny?) Needless to say, I think Bandit is fitting in, I'm debating the change of name, I'm not sure if he really knows it or not, I don't want to confuse him.

As to the roo, it looks like he'll be here on the 15th. Axel is going to meet the breeder in Portland. I'm pretty excited. biggrin.gif

Thanks for all the well wishes, and if anyone else has ferrets, I may have to ask you zillions of questions...

laugh.gif huh.gif I still can't imagine having a roo for a pet..let alone 2 for breeding!! LOL that has to be so cool....

You will have a blast with your ferret. my Bandit keeps us well entertained!! Marshalls is a great ferret brand food too.

Wow, definately sounds like you've been busy. Congrats on the new additions. Can't wait to see some pics. biggrin.gif

Good choice on the Zupreem for the ferret food. I noticed you said rubber jacks though. Are they the real hard rubber? If not they're prone to chewing them up and swallowing the pieces to any soft rubber.

I know a great ferret website if you need it or just pm any questions. wink.gif

Ok, so Tamara, is your ferret a roan silver mit? I'm reading and trying to decypher the differnt colors and patterns. I think mine is just a plain ol' sable, but we'll have to post some pics and let you all with ferrets help me out.

So far Bandit is a hoot, he's more interested in my bag of poly fill than anything else at the moment. The jax are a hard plastic, I gave one to Cinco too...LOL
wilywind
She's actually a sable mitt. She looked more roan when she was a baby but she's changed colors since. Sako best I can figure is champagne. The little brute is getting huge.

That's a pretty good color chart with pics.
