wink.gif Thanks for the link, it is truely terrible the effect plastic bags have on the enviroment, I take cloth bags everytime I go grocery shopping or shopping, it's amazing what little things we can all do and what a difference it CAN make. wink.gif

I've also been taking cloth bags with me to the grocery store for a while now too. I've been pleased to see that the grocery store is now offering very cheap cloth bags for people to buy, specifically for shopping. Go Meijer! I'll go there any day over Walmart! smile.gif

That's interesting, because Seattle WA just started charging everyone 25 cents a bag for plastic or for paper to encourage using cloth bags etc. I usually ask for paper bags at the grocery store. Only because they are more biodegradable and you can actually composte them etc. I'm planning on making it a habit to take my own cloth bags shopping now as well. Every little bit helps.

Living on a corner lot and having hedges and fence I know how many plastic bags and stuff get blown around and the litter and garbage that gets strewn around. Its disgusting.

Thanks Jo for the reminder. One other thing to remember is also the plastic can and bottle holders that come around 6 packs of cans and bottles, they are extremely dangerous to wild life getting caught around necks and feet. So please be very aware of where these types of things go and if you see one laying on the ground or in the water, please pick it up and dispose of it properly. It could save an animals life.

I can shamefully say I have not done this bf now. But Now I am going to get some cloth bags. What a shame at the animal pics! The US needs to ban plastic bags too!!!!!

Thanks Jo this is a great reminder... ohmy.gif

Wow, yep plastic has become quite the hot topic in the past year or so! We use cloth bags everytime we go to the grocery store and for each bag you get a $0.03 discount... we just store some in the car so they are always there to use. smile.gif We have SO many, every store has there own design and they always give them away in the beginning as a promotion so we've accumulated quite the collection of cloth bags! biggrin.gif We do have a few stores in the area that won't offer plastic anymore and a couple stores that charge for bags...

We don't have paper bags here, it was interesting when we were in MI last week and they said 'paper or plastic' at first I was like huh.gif but then I realized what they were saying! lol The paper bags were cute!
