Julie, your post about Birds and Blooms magazine hit home and I didn't want to horn in on your post, so I thought I'd tell about my experience with them here.

I got familiar with that magazine years ago when I picked one up in the grocery store and liked what I saw. About that time, Joe said, "let's go, the ice cream will melt". I bought the magazine. When I got home with it, I sat down to go through it and decided to thumb through quickly, then go back and read.

As I was going through, I flipped a page or two and said to Joe, "OH, somebody has a picture of a little horse in here". I flipped a few more pages and it hit me. I said "hey wait a minute, that's MY HORSE"
I had painted it as a barn decoration for a lady from Texas!

Every year at the Walking Horse Championships, they have a barn decorating contest. They decorate with horse statues and lots of plants.

A Birds and Blooms photographer/reporter happened to be in the area and heard there would be tons of gorgeous flowers there, so she went through the barn area taking pictures and got one of the barn I painted the horses for. It wound up in the magazine. BTW, that barn won first place in the decorating contest.

I wrote to the magazine and told them I was thrilled to find some of my artwork in the very first issue of their magazine I had ever seen and they sent me a nice gift.

I sent them a man's name to contact about a Cardinal that fed his fish in his pond. He had several red goldfish and one white one. The bird sat on a limb that had fallen across the pond and fed worms to the fish every day. It never fed the white fish, only the red ones. Strange. They sent me another gift for putting them onto that story.

It's been a while and I need to subscribe again!!! Thanks Julie for the reminder.

My Dad is a subscriber to Birds and Blooms and we LOVE that magazine. He gives me his as soon as he reads them!!

Julie. I just couldn't believe it when I saw it. I still have it here somewhere. If I can find it (buried up under 500 things) I'll scan it and let you see what kind of write up it had. It don't think it mentioned the horse, just the flowers of course, being a bird and flower mag.

I think I still have the one with the Cardinal and the fish too. Who knows, our flower seeds might be with them.

Well start looking Weeza----you never know what you might find....hope our flower seeds may be there too.....
