Okay, how did you teach Jay Jay to give you five, and what is the wave trick? I saw Willie doing "shake hands" on one of Buddy's vids and tried in vain to get Clyde to understand what I wanted him to do, but in his little head, when he puts out a foot, a finger better be under it so he can climb aboard. None of this "shaking hands" stuff for him when there's a finger to be sat upon. Yes, HE trains ME.
As for the pooping, I don't know what to tell you.

Clyde poops on me constantly. Shout is my new best friend. He will occasionally give me enough warning so I can attempt to hold him away from me but he usually hits me. I've resigned myself to being his personal poop deck

and luckily, it comes right out of t-shirts, which is what I usually have on. I've decided that pooping on their person must be the way parrots prove their love.

Or maybe their ownership. Maybe it's like my basset whizzing on every blade of grass when we take walks. MINE! MINE! MINE!
Well ---- With just one lesson -- I put him on a training perch in another room and said "give me 5" and when he put out his foot, I lowered my finger some so that he would not put his weight on it and pulled it back (as to not let him fall at the same time) and said "good boy" and rewarded him with a cheerio.
I just kept repeating the process a few times. And now, he knows to just tap and pull back. He seemed to just get it.
As for the wave --- We are having trouble with that one today. I hold my hand up in front of him as to wave but low enough that he starts trying to step up but high enough so that he picks his foot high up. I pull back and say "good boy" and reward him. However, this one is a little harder because
of the way I hold my hand to wave basically. He is having more difficulty with this one but he is getting there.
Good luck. He basically responds to the fact that repitition and knowing the cheerio is there, he understands what he is supposed to do based on the command. However, if I don't say the same words the same, it confuses him so this is important.
