I have a question about using essential oils around our birds. I know it's not a good idea to use a diffuser with essential oils (and some people do use essential oils if they are a high grade). But I'm wondering if it is okay to mix the essential oils with water, and place it into a spray bottle and use it as a room freshener. Would this be okay because the oils are not being 'burned' and so long as I stick to parrot safe plants?
I've tried to find something on the web, but most of it refers to diffusing essential oils, which is not what I'm looking for.
I already know about simmering stuff on the stove. I do this all the time, but I'm looking for something quicker.
Any thoughts?

We discussed this in our parrot meeting last Sunday, and the guest speaker (who is also my vet) confirmed that this was fine as long as the plants the oils are derived from are bird safe.
She did state to not put them right next to cages where they could be reached or mistakenly ingested, or spilled on the bird or the cage.
I am sure others will be along with more info soon, but that was the word we received!

Alright, that makes sense.
Thanks for the quick response, Joni

I have used the Scentsy brand, which you put in an electric burner (lightbulb). It is made from all soy products and is a safe alternative to scented candles or tarts that burn with a tea candle. Now, I do not use my Scentsy burner in the same room as Mollie but it gives the house a great scent in other rooms. many scents to choose from at reasonable prices.

Thanks for your input, Julie. I wish that could work for us, but we kind of have an open house type concept here. So unless it is used only in the bathroom, or a bedroom, that wouldn't work for us.
It's a good thing to keep in mind though
