Hi Renee, Welcome to the forum!!!

That's a fine looking family you have there. smile.gif

There's a lot of wonderful friendly people here with a lot of knowledge so just ask any questions you have. ...And we don't consider any question "dumb" or "silly" so don't be shy about asking.

Hello and welcome Renee and Bird.
I must say you've done better getting pics up than I did! I'm new to the forum but not new to qp's, though it's been a time between birds for me. I'm also a new mommy and finding the people here very helpful and knowledgeable. (spelled that wrong, just know it! LOL) I've had a shaky start myself and have found a lot of help and support here. Tobey was doing fine, I was the one needing the help. Anywho welcome and be sure to check in often!

Bird likes to jump off his cage.. alot. it kinda sucks because i found that his tail feather today was bent all outta shape i had posted a comment on a different topic about his feather.. and his other tail feathers being sorta frayed or something i dunno plz if someone could help explain why his feather is that way or if i need to take him to a vet. heres some pictures

The feather is obiously bent...

Im trying to get a clear picture with my cam but its very difficult.

This picture is a lil better.. but still kinda hard to seee

(why a parakeet? im not sure hes BIG)

Just a random fact, the word parakeet describes any small to medium sized parrot with a long tail feathers. biggrin.gif

Actually, I think what I would do is just clip that feather down past where the bent part is. He looks like a youngster and he'll probably molt it before long.

Here's a little bit clearer picture:

His bent feather is fine. Sometimes they bend like that. Your bird is not hurt and I wouldn't worry about it at all. It would be different if the feather was bent at a critical circulation point and this is not a severe bend at all.

Welcome!! This is a great place to be and everyone's so helpful here

I wouldn't worry about the feather. Clyde does that to his tail every now and again and he just looks funny for a while and eventually it finishes falling off. Once he bent a feather up so it looked like a little exclamation point hovering over him as he walked around! laugh.gif Yes, I laughed at him and no, he did not like that. tongue.gif Bird's will fall off, too, eventually. You could clip it off if he'll let you, but Clyde really, really, REALLY hates to have his tail touched so I just wait for it to fall off on its own when he does that.
