I am so excited! As some of you know, my family and I have been looking for a linnie or budgie. None of the budgie breeders here have babies available, so my mom and I have been searching out-of-state for linnies. I think we finally found one! Almost Angels Aviary in Texas (so far away from us!) has a sweet little green linnie available. She's at a discounted price of $125 because she isn't DNA'd and she's a bit too small to be a show bird (which of course doesn't matter to us biggrin.gif ). The usual price is $175. And shipping is a reasonable price. We showed my dad the picture of her (who was unwaveringly in favor of just getting a budgie) and he said, "Well, let's get her!" I was shocked, and so happy! It isn't in stone yet, but we're pretty sure we're going to get her. We even decided on a name: Kricket (spelled that way on purpose)! tongue.gif

So, has anyone gotten a bird from this breeder or know about them at all? From the info on their website, they sound very responsible. They even teach the babies to step-up, which is really great! Should we be cautious at all about the "discounted" price? It seems harmless enough to me.

I'm so happy!

Bird man- they're linoleated parakeet (probably not spelled correctly). They sound like they would be great pet birds. I think there are some folks on this forum who have linnies. Supposedly very calm, quiet birds and very pretty.

Good luck to you Kestrel- and if you do get the linnie be sure to share pics asap smile.gif

I only know of one person on here that has Linnies, and that is Carrie~Anne, there may be others but she's the only one I know of. I just recently saw one for the very first time just the other day. Cute little birds.

I've not heard of that particular breeder, but then I've not been in the market for Linnies. wink.gif

The Aviary looks pretty good and they even advertise this Forum. So I say you probably can trust them. They also have quakers, caiques.
The little linnies are pretty cute!

I know the exact aviary you are talking about. Christine is the breeder there and I've heard awesome things about her. I've even seen a picture of your little green linnie!! tongue.gif

I think I had sent you the link to the linnie forum before, if not, let me know and I'll PM it to you again. There are two members over there who have been dealing with Christine and have nothing but great stuff to say about her. smile.gif

As for those of you who haven't seen a linnie....(I'll take any excuse to show mine off biggrin.gif)

Thanks for all the replies!

Linnies, besides being adorable, are known for their kind personalities and quietness. Which is perfect for our family. biggrin.gif

It's good that you guys also think the breeder can be trusted, and that people at the Linnie Forum have had good experiences with her, too!

Carrie~Anne, thanks for the insight about the breeder, and I am going to join the Linnie Forum soon! smile.gif Your linnies are so cute!

There was a breeder at our local bird fair in June that had them for sale, she had about 10 babies, in green and blue! I THINK she was asking $150 for greens and $200 for blues but I wouldnt swear on that!!

Thanks everyone!

Ok, now it's pretty much official. Kricket is coming on my first day of school (Yuck! But at least I have something to look forward to rolleyes.gif ) which is August 25th. YAY!
