I had to sell my horse the other night, so my husband let me get a new Quaker baby! She (just guessing on gender) is so sweet! Here is a picture of Caesar and her together and one of her by herself. I am going to try to have them in the same cage eventually, but I know that there is a chance that I may never be able to. It's okay, I love them both, anyway!

Caesar was plucked before I ever got him. He's apparently not going to get all of his feathers back. He no longer plucks with us, for the most part. So Caesar is the plucked one, and Cleo is the other one.

Awww, how sweet. Don't you love the way they stretch out their necks? Mine does that when he thinks he's going to be very clever, I assume so that I'll pay extra close attention to whatever he's going to do. Are they getting along and being buddies already? It looks like it.

i'm also glad to see caesar looks like he's feathered in a bit. glad to hear he's not plucking anymore.

congrats on cleo - she's a beauty.

just remember: if you house them together, you may lose their pet quality, and you may end up with babies. i dunno if caesar is one who likes being handled or not, but something to keep in mind.

Thanks Kris I won't lie and say it was easy. I cried when they drove away with her.

As far as caging, I haven't decided what I want to do yet. I have been on the lookout for a decent used cage on CL. The one she's in is okay for now, but if I keep them separate, I will definitely want something bigger for her. It's nice having her because I think she might end up being a family bird. She is much more easy going than Caesar is, but it could just be because of her being younger.

Great pictures. It's too bad that you didn't practice quarantine though when you brought the new bird in. This is so important.

As for caging them together, make sure they are the same sex first, so you don't have to worry about breeding issues. Also, it should be noted that being caged together may make the Quakers more bonded to each other and less bonded to you, which means they may become very aggressive with you.

awwwwwwwwwwwwww adorable , I think its great to have at least 2 fids , birds are flock critters and its good to know they have each other when the human flock members can`t be around , thy also get to have a preening buddy to help rid them of those horrible pin feathers , I hope Ceasars feathers grow back in eventually, I am sure you love him regardless , little plucked chicken.

Yes, they get along well as long as Cleo isn't on Caesar's cage (no surprise there ). I love them both, and I am so happy with Cleo!!! She seems to be such a sweetie.

Personally I wouldn't cage them together for the reasons mentioned above, but I guess it's a personal choice. Good luck!

I think we have decided not to cage them together. Now I just have to find a bigger cage for Cleo! I definitely love that they both like to be handled! They like to hang out together outside of their cages, and I will continue to let them play together, but they will stay in separate cages.

I have 2 fids a sun conure and a QP and then have bc very bonded but they love
my husband and I first! I ended up houseing them together, they use to play
together all of the time but one cage is easlier to clean now! All a matter
of choice...it sounds like your doing great with them.
