Hi I have a pair of quaker parrots and she is sitting on eggs does she have to sit on them 24/7 or can she get out 5-10 minutes at a time here and there? huh.gif
Carrie~Anne
No, she isn't expected to sit on them 24/7, she has to get off to use the potty wink.gif Also, the male should be taking an active role in setting the eggs too.

Thank you, we just weren't sure as when I open the gate on the cage so he can come and go as he wants she comes out for a few minutes with him and then goes back eats a few bites and drinks and goes back to her eggs.

Sounds like shes doing a great job so far! Make sure not to disturb the eggs or do anything to stress the parents untill after the babies have been pulled. I just lost 8 eggs because my Pair abandoned them after being moved to a new cage. =(

Oh wow! I am so sorry to hear that and thank you for the advice...When do you recommend pulling them? I have been told anywhere from immediately to 10-14 days? I am very excited about all this!! wink.gif

I wouldn't pull any sooner then 10 days, unless the parents aren't feeding the chicks or if they are harming them. It's best to leave them in the nest box with the parents so the babies can get the best nutrients possible. This gives them a good strong start wink.gif

Okay thank you! At ten days how often do you need to feed them?
