I've never even bothered to try before. Really, who can get a picture of lightning? huh.gif

Good Job Ron, I see you had the storm that just nailed us...WOW...talk about thunder boomers and lightening, It was so close here that the lightening flash hadn't even finished before the thunder boomed! Scared the birds that were attempting to sleep...And both my dogs were hunkered under the computer desk by my feet.

Did you have high winds too?? The were between 45 and 60 mph gusts down here....I just hope it didn't start any fires anywhere.

Who can get a picture of lightning?...well of course Uncle Zip... laugh.gif great timing Ron....and you did a good job....never thought to try that....but then again, lightning scares me so much that I'm inside sitting down when we get something like that..
Thanks for the unusual but pretty shots.... smile.gif

Wow, amazing shots!!

I've thought about trying that before but when I think about it, you don't get a countdown or anything so I figured it was futile. (..and a 4 -3 - 2 - 1 - STRIKE! laugh.gif )

great pics UZ, envious you had a storm. I know how to capture lightening pics with a SLR but with digital I am clueless. Did you set your camera to continuous and just do bursts until you captured it or??

Uncle Zippy
I put the camera on a "sports" setting. It snaps the pics pretty quick, and you don't get any blurring. I just stood and waited for a flash and "snap"! Out of maybe 15 shots I had four with some kind of lightning. Those two were the best. I wish I'd thought of it the day before. We had an even better show, but it was earler in the day so the light may have affected the results.

We could be in for more storms today and tomorrow. I'll keep the camera handy now.

Hmmm, I don't think my camera has that feature.

I thought maybe with Canadian lightning, you got a ten second warning or something so you could get your camera ready to snap. tongue.gif

Oh, BTW, it's all pure luck, capturing it...I took many shots to get this..used a tripod to stabilize camera...
