What a difference a cage makes! I bought an identical cage for Bugsy and added a jolly ball. He seems to prefer the cage to his play tower. With the old cage, he seemed to regard the play tower as a great place to be. Now, he climbs to the top of the tower, and then seems to want to go back to his cage.
By the way, Bugsy did not like the playground on the top of his cage. Both times he visited it, he immediately jumped off it. I finally took it off completely.
It took less than three days for him to become comfortable with the jolly ball. At first he played with the toys hanging from the ball by standing on perches next to the ball or standing on top of the ball. Now he doesn't hesitate to go into the ball. I also tried putting something in the bottom of the ball, but within seconds, he pulled out whatever I put in there. I'm resigned to cleaning the interior regularly.
