Hey! smile.gif

Well My names Meg and I brought my baby Dexter home on Sunday. He's 11 weeks old and already talking! The breeder was wonderful. Roney Stewart is Wichita Falls TX. I live in North Dallas.

Dexter is not my first bird nor will he be my last I'm sure. I had a Macaw for almost 10 years before I had to sell, in January, due to a death in my family and was sold to help with the costs. Mickey was very dear to me as he was my first bird but I went everyday to the breeder and had fed him. I was there when he hatched.

I had to have another one. As I moved and space is limited now(I used to live on a ranch where I rescued horses and dogs but I've since moved to the city again for school). I thought a smaller bird would be best. So far I'd say that I love him. He's a character. The cage is smaller and much easier to handle thats for sure lol.

I'm really excited about Dexter and our life together. He hates my brother and his wife already. Loves my mom though. He's yet to meet my boyfriend we'll see how that goes.

Hope I meet a lot of good friends here!

Welcome to the Forum! I love the name Dexter. Make sure you get your quaker out and about with the family or he will be bonded to only YOU and not like anyone else......I found that out the hard way. mellow.gif

You little Dexter is very cute! I almost hate to say anything, but is that cage made out of galvanized wire? It really looks like it. If it is you need to get your little Dexter out of there ASAP. Galvanized wire is NOT safe for birds. A powder coated, non toxic cage is very safe. If it isn't galvanized wire, then nevermind my post.

Welcome to the forum Meg. I'm also in Dallas...where exactly are you? Have you seen the wild quakers at White Rock Lake? I'm off Mockingbird in the Hillside area. Dexter is a handsome birdy!! Congrats!
