Well, my 'girls' are doing good. I'll start by updating how I came to be guardian to them and then their progress.
Rosie was in a drug raid, she was innocent, and, the DEA agent knows me and called me to come get her...that was June of 07.
She is such a ham...she loves to play 'Peekaboo' and says "Peekaboo PPPPEEEEEKKAAA PPPEEEKKKAA Peekaboo" She also laughs (in my voice) when anyone else laughs...
Holly belonged to an older woman who had to go into a nursing home. Her son thought it would be good to 'set Holly free'. Thankfully he told someone and they convinced him not to...he gave her to one of his clients...who lives in a state where she is illegal. After being hidden in a back bedroom for months, she was thought to be egg bound...she was also naked from plucking. Turns out their vet is my vet and he convinced them to give her to a good home where she could get attention and out of cage time (they were happy to find someone to take her and I still send them updates and pictures). Holly is a treasure...she sings to her eggs when she lays (no male so not fertle), she says "Do you love me?" and after repeat it, she will say "I love you" and she plays peekaboo in the sink when she takes a bath...and soo much more. Holly has been here 1 year this month.
I love to sit quietly and listen to the Quakers talking to themslves, eachothr and my Blue Headed Pionus...thise 3 sound like people having a conversation LOL
I attached pics of my girls...
These 2 have have brought soo much pleasure to us that on Saturday I will be taking in another Quaker (I'd take him anyway since he needs a new home LOL) His name is Corky and all I really know about him is that he is cage territorial and loud...LOL...they have also told me they can clapp their hands and he will dance and sing "Corky is a good boy" over and over. I'll have to post pictures after he gets here...he is traveling from up in Indiana down to us (east of Cincinnati)so I know they care about him and have taken care of him.

I have many birds and have rehomed most...

Ozzy Osbourne..
...my Congo African grey...I rehomed due to the lady going in a nursing home

Ringo Starr..
..my Congo African Grey..rehomed from a consignment shop..was there for about 6 months and NOONE could do anything with him..he licked my fingers perched on me and I was the ONLY one that could touch him..so he went home with me and the shop owner made me a big break on the price

Daisy..
..my cockateil...she was rehomed due to the family just not wanting her anymore...so sad but it happens alot..the people at my work know I am a bird lover and considered her letting me have her..Im so glad she did..daisy is such a cuddler

all my other birds....2 Quakers, 1 cockateil, 1 parakeet, and 1 Parrotlet was purchased as babies...

I would rehome a bird in a heartbeat if anyone was just gonna let it go in the wild..after being capative and being put in the wild I dont think they would stand a chance...after all they rely on us to feed and care for them and then all the suddle noone is there to care for them....WHAT A SHAME!!!

Thanks for sharing your story. I unfortunately have to re-home my QP and although I'm finding it very difficult, your post has given me hope that I can find a great home for my little friend.

Do you happen to have a twin down in the Maryland area? wink.gif

Yeah, Michele!! You must have a "way" about you.
I always used to daydream about being a "Mary Poppins" or "Snow White" type that animals would flock to me because of my sweet, gentle nature ...... dry.gif
I guess I need the sweet, gentle nature first !!! tongue.gif
