One would think this fine fella went to Joni's Charm and Finishing School for birdies... but nooooo! We have come a long way!
Before: (Feb, 2008) Plucked chest, neck, underwieght, and extreme emotional distress

Now:(August 2008) Spoiled, healthy, and in a good routine. I can actually give him a scritch now.

Aww, thanks Sandi! As shameless as I am, I admit looking at pictures and videos of before and after and feeling so proud! The poor baby was such a mess- messed up in every possible way- yet still easier than foster kids (2 legged) and faster to earn trust with too!
When I saw him, my only thought was to get him out of that small cage and wrong environment. I did not want or need another bird. I had a friend in mind... and Hank took to her right away. But... by the time she was ready to commit it was too late. The little bugger had me at "do you want a peanut"? (that is what he says constantly).
Who am I to question why? He is one of the happy family now. He is here to stay without question or hesitation. Ah... what's one more! wub.gif

What a good job you have done. wub.gif What kind of bird is that?
What's his name?

It makes me so happy to see one so well cared for.

God bless you.

It is indeed a MP, and his name is Hank. He is quite a character. He sure likes chewing and only will bathe in his water dish. There is very limited information to be found on these guys... in fact my Vet had never even seen one before Hank. I connected with a girl on Youtube in California that has one, she has offered her insights and support which is always helpful. Though they are closely related to ring necks and Alexandrians, they are quite different. I have never seen a parrot who loves strangers so much!
Thanks for the re-welcome! I have missed everyone too.
I am pleased to see everyone is still hanging around and helping each other out. smile.gif

And how adorable is this picture??? wub.gif

I really am so pleased at how this turned out. The past 8 months has been slow and steady progress, and until looking at the video, I really did not realize how far he had come.
I think I will post that video, and one of Maddie who was having a problem that was stumping everyone. Perhaps it can help someone in the same situation.

Wow!! Lisa, that is amazing!!! And it is something that you should be very, very proud of. Obviously you have done wonders for Hank. MPs are such cool birds. I've had the pleasure of meeting one in person and he was a doll...very well socialized bird.
