Peanut Butter was my Chihuahua, she just turned 11 on July 3rd, of this year, here is the email that I sent to my friends and family.

Yesterday Peanut Butter just wasn't herself, she refused to drink so I gave her pedialyte by a syringe every half hour until midnight, we had her laying in her bean bag chair w/ a heating pad under a blanket. About 2 this morning Chris heard her moving around and she was trying to get to Syd so he put her in bed w/ Syd, I got up at 3 to check her and she was resting really good but had, had diarrhea when she was up earlier (chris didn't see it) so I cleaned that up and tried to lay back down, well at 5 I heard her making a odd noise, I got up and brought her back to her bean bag chair and heating pad. Well she was having small seizures and I called the Vet and they had me bring her in. At 8:40 this morning my lil Peanut Butter crossed the Rainbow Bridge, my sister Missy met me at the Vet to be w/ me and Peanut as she was a VERY loved little dog! She had a horrible seizure at the office right before she was given her final drug. She went peacefully after that thanks to the medicine. So please dont take one day w/ your pets for granted, I thought I was going to have her for at least 5 more years but there was other plans for my lil girl! We brought her home, my Parents and Chris were waiting on me, we buried her in the yard and plan to get a Dogwood tree to plant near her. Hug your puppers for me please!

I am so sorry Shelli. It is so hard when we lose our pets, they really are part of our families. We were lucky with our first dachshund, Rocky who lived to be 17 and not so lucky with our second Rambo who got sick and died at 8 years old. It hurts so much and you feel so bad. Remember that one day you will see her again over the rainbow bridge. I will keep you in my prayers. Julie

Thanks you all, I cant believe how much I miss her. She was truly one of those dogs that EVERYONE that met her loved her and wanted her, people that normally hate Chihuahuas loved her! And now all I keep hearing about is the Chihuahua movie that is starting and I want to scream for it to go away! Thanks again, Shelli

That is actually a picture that Majj made for me, I will post a picture of Peanut Butter for you all to see! She was a "large" Chihuahua weighing in at a whopping 6lbs. She looked JUST like the Taco Bell Chihuahua, we had just gotten her before those commercials came out and that is all we heard! lol

I am so very sorry about Peanut Butter. It is always hard to lose a beloved friend of the family. (((HUGZ)))

FROM FRIEND TO FRIEND

You're giving me a special gift,
So sorrowfully endowed,
And through these last few cherished days,
Your courage makes me proud.

But really, love is knowing
When your best friend is in pain,
And understanding earthly acts
Will only be in vain.

So looking deep into your eyes,
Beyond, into your soul,
I see in you the magic, that will
Once more make me whole.

The strength that you possess,
Is why I look to you today,
To do this thing that must be done,
For it's the only way.

That strength is why I've followed you,
And chose you as my friend,
And why I've loved you all these years...
My partner 'til the end.

Please, understand just what this gift,
You're giving means to me,
It gives me back the strength I've lost,
And all my dignity.

You take a stand on my behalf,
For that is what friends do.
And know that what you do is right,
For I believe it too.

So one last time, I breathe your scent,
And through your hand I feel,
The courage that's within you,
To now grant me this appeal.

Cut the leash that holds me here,
Dear friend, and let me run,
Once more a strong and steady pet,
My pain and struggle done.

And don't despair my passing,
For I won't be far away,
Forever here, within your heart
And memory I'll stay.

I'll be there watching over you,
Your ever faithful friend,
And in your memories I'll run,
...a young loving companion once again.

Thank you all, that poem has me bawling, as she was passing I kept kissing her and of course I was holding her, I told her over and over that I love her and that for her to please wait for me, and that I was sorry!

I've had to make that decision a few times myself ... puppy got hit by a car, cat old age, cat cancer ... and it is NEVER an easy choice. I'm sure others will find it helpful ... even if it does make them cry ... as it does me every time I read it ...
