As a human parent, whether it be to my foster daughter Elizabeth, My step daughter Penny or my Natural born son, I was a very protective parent. Where as I was going cross country on my own at age 9.

Ok this has carried over to my pets. Tonight is a hard night for me. Bear is being made to sleep in his bed on the floor instead of in his bed on our bed or in the recliner with me. So I am learning to let go and let grow. But you have to know I keep checking the bed to make sure he's still there.

I know I am a nut@@

I can relate,,,,,,,,my Chihuahua, Amber has slept with us since we got her in 2002. I doubt she will ever be out of our bed. It is a ritual with her. I guess with me too. Ever since my dachshund, Heidi died last year in Sept, (she also slept with us) I just never had the nerve to move Amber out of our bed......

Sassy also sleeps with us, but we have been weening her to her bed. We have her bed on a Tub, one of those big ones you use for storage. In it is my sewing stuff, and crafting stuff. I have the Dog stairs set up to climb to her bed and it's a perfect fit. Sassy is doing very well to not sleep in our bed, however she sleeps on the floor right at my feet as I sleep in the recliner that we have in our room for me.

Bear didn't make it through the night....She just climbed into the bed with mister. It's 4:39 so he made it a long time. He did very well. I would rather he slept in a bed on the floor because he is so tiny I fear rolling over on him, however if I lose the weight I want to, I won't worry so much. Right now it's ok because Mister sleeps in the bed and I pretty much sleep in the recliner so I can keep my feet up *neuropathy* and my head up, *acid reflux*.

Cheryl, you mentioned "acid reflux" I also have that and so does Hubby. We take Prilosec and it really works. My Hubby has it really really bad. He can't eat anything after 5:30 or he will be up all night, even with the Prilosec.

I take Nexium. I am not suppose to eat anything after 6 PM because of the gastric bypass and the Acid reflux both. Some times it's hard not to grab me a bowl of cherries or strawberries now that Cherries are out of season.
