Here are a few snaps of the new PETCO "rescue." Went and got his big brother ekkie a new, roomy cage today so that Indy will get to move into his brother's old room soon.

Am interested in any pointers on what I can do for this guy to get him looking better / being stronger. His feathers are so dark, broken, and stressed, and I think he is thin. Have been trying soft foods with him today (mashed potato seemed to work, but not squash or other bits of other veggies. He He doesn't look that well, but is acting ok. Right now he is climbing on a baby gate -- great since the cage he's been in at the store had nothing to climb on. His little toes are not very strong.

Thanks to everyone for the supportive comments. I feel less crazy now!

Wow that is one pretty bird. biggrin.gif How about some nuts. Will he eat those?
I can't think of anything else right now. I just went through this with Milo.
I bet he picks up on his eating in no time.

Awww, poor little guy does look a little worse for wear, but you know what, I'll bet with a few days' good care and lovin', he'll be fine in no time at all. He looks a little bewildered by all the changes, too. wub.gif

What a pretty little bird! I think he will come around. Just keep trying different foods. Fruit might make him come around. Apples, strawberries and watermelon are favs of my little guy. As for veggies, for favs, mine love corn, green beans, and cucumber the most. A little seed will help put some weight on him. Also they make special foods for birds to put weight on. I would ask your avian vet about that. So glad he had a happy ending. Petco is so abusive to birds!! Imagine not giving them anything to perch on!! angry.gif

I bet you that at his next molt his feathers will be beautiful from your better care of him.

Wow what a beauty.Reminds me of my Looch when I first got him.He wasn't used to any healthy foods either, but he is really starting to like them now.I would make him some nice corn bread with sweet potaoes and pellets and a little frozen corn or peas mixed in. Mine love that
