Well,the day came to move my birds indoors for the winter.Yes,we live in Florida,but in the North Central part of the state and it can get down into the low 40's at night.Our days are usually warm,even in winter,around mid 70's-80's,so I'll be trucking my flock outside alot Anyway,all went well until it was time to bring Sweetie in.She had watched me carry the others inside,one by one.I stopped for a minute to answer my cellphone by Sweetie's cage.I should've known something wasn't quite right because she's usually chattering away when I'm on the phone,but this time,not a peep.I finished my call and went to get Sweetie out of her cage.As soon as I opened the cagedoor,Sweetie went running,screaming as loud as I've ever heard her"Help" "Help" and "Scared Me" and then came the dreaded"Oh Baby Oh Baby" over and over(I'd been told she says that when she's going to bite) At 1st I was upset,thinking I'd done something I wasn't aware of that upset her.She seemed,at 1st glance,to be terrified,or at least she sounded that way,to me.I backed away from her cage,talking softly and went and sat down,puzzled.As soon as I was 3 feet from her,she hopped to her front perch and chuckled and then said"Good boy~!" I gave her a few minutes,thinking she needed time to calm down.She never took her eyes off me.I got up and approached her again...soon as I reached for her door,she repeated the same scene,screaming the same words.Back I went to the chair,and before I even sat down,Sweetie was chuckling.I said to her,"Oh,you think that's funny?" She said"Yep" and then was laughing,and I mean LAUGHING.I was waiting for her to fall off her perch and roll around,she was laughing so heartily..I got one of her favorite treats and hid it behind my back and again approached her cage....Soon as I did,she went running again,screaming the same words,but when I tapped her door with the treat,she stopped,came to her door and waited for me to open it.I did,and held the treat out,above my hand.Sweetie said"Hop up" and she did,and I gave her the treat....Seems my little green charmer has a bit of acting talent....That sure was a convincing performance,almost Oscar worthy....Maybe I should look into getting her an agent

Yes,she sure does~! When I was 1st given Sweetie a few months ago,she said about 40 things(wrote them down) Now,the count is up to double that...what really amazes me,is her ability to use the right word or phrase to fit the situation...One of my favorites is when Sweetie thinks I've spent enough time doing Non-Sweetie things...1st,she'll call "Mommy" a few times and if I don't come to her,the next thing is she sneezes over and over.She'll generally throw in a hacking cough or two,as well. When she 1st came to live with me,I didn't know she could sneeze and cough and sound so real.So,of course,every time she did it,I went running to her to make sure she was okay and not getting sick,making a fuss over her.Well,my little green charmer filed that away in her feathered head and pulls it out when she's had enough of my dillydallying...It's a hoot

Sweetie is a rehome and I've had her for about 4 1/2 months now.A coworker begged me to take her and then tried to take her back.(I've posted a few threads concerning those issues,maybe you can find them and read about Sweetie) Sweetie was named"Petey"but I changed it to Sweetie since she is female and she is 8 years old.And,yes,she is a trip...uncanny in her ability to comment with astounding acuracy on many situations,and she has learned many new words/phrases since coming to live w/ me.She has truly stolen my heart.I,too,wish I could ger her on video...my digital camers has a video mode..Does anyone have time to intruct me on how to put the video on here,as I'm fairly"technologically challenged" I'd especially like for you all to see her beautiful dance that she does when I sing to her...cracks us up~!
