Full Version: Grieving Pets?

My husband left today for boot camp and even though he has only been gone a few hours, the pets are already noticing because they know it is getting closer to bed time and he isn't home.

I assume that this is going to get worse over the next few days.

We have 2 cats, 1 QP, and 6 love birds.

So far his cat is already acting out. He has peed in 2 different places in the house! I don't think the other cat, the QP and maybe a few of the birds will grieve.

What do I do with the animals that do grieve?

When my cat was grieving the loss of his girlfriend Josie
I just got a couple of her things that she loved and let him
play with it and sleep with it. I think it helped so maybe
do that with the ones that are most affected?

obviously with the love birds it will be different
the qp may notice something is different and start to act out
but maybe have something of his that he can play with as well
that won't break and is safe... just to have his smell around
and what not will be comforting for the first day or two
