My bird sleeps with his tail up in the bars of the cage, resting it there and his body is lifted slightly on the rear from this position,
is this normal sleeping position?
thanks

Clyde always puffs up and usually puts his head over his left shoulder and buries his face in his feathers. I've never seen him stick his tail up against the cage. Is the cage big enough? If he's not crowded by toys or anything, maybe he's just quirky!

My goofy bird does the same thing. He has plenty of perches to sit on, He chooses to sleep on this tiny perch on the edge of a mirror. He turns so his butt is against the cage bars and his butt in the air. He is actually looking down in this position. They are just goofy.

i spied on xerxey after i cover the cage just to see how he sleeps and the way you described is exactly how xerxey sleeps on his perch at night.

its funny to see that but whats awkard to u and to me may be comfy for them.

Tonight when i put the blanket over my quaker's cage he immediately put his tail feathers pointing up and his head slanting downwards exactly how you describe..weird!

louie does that position too when he first gets settled onto his sleepy perch - head down, butt up, facing the back of his cage. BUT i checked on him one night and he was in typical sleeping position - upright with his head tucked into his back. silly birds.

Oh I feel much better now! Thank you! He has lots of choices of perches and space, but chooses this one spot, just like your birds...
I'll sleep better tonight, while he's sleeping with his tail up LIKE THE REST OF YOUR BIRDS!

Mine has a swivel mirror and he turns it where it's side ways and sticks his head through and sleeps. I guessed he uses it to keep his balance while sleeping.

I thought Yogi was the only wierdo that slept like that, then noticed Flirt does it too.
Almost as if they are saying "I'm sleeping.. kiss my @ss.. I'm not talking to you till morning"

Rofl! That's funny! That does sound like something a Quaker would say too!

Verde sleeps like that too!

Rico sleeps that way also. And, I'll tell you this; if you try to touch him or mess with him in ANY way when he is in his sleep position.... look out!
I think it is so funny that a little tiny bird can be so particular. A dog or cat would be happy to be woken up and played with. These little peeps have a mind of their own!

OMG! That's Nikki. She litterally sleeps with her *** up sometimes while snuggling up next to Sunny
