Hi.
Can anyone tell me if Quakers can eat flowers.
I have heaps of wattle, bottle brush & eucalypt trees near me.
Can they eat them ????
I cant seem to see a post about flowers in the diet 7 health section.
Did I miss it ????
Are ther any other flowers they can eat ????
Thanx.

My guys have had bottle brush and gravillas the native lorikeets eat the nector so I can`t see a problem ..they are on the safe list of plants although it doesn`t state what part , so I imagine its all o.k ..My fids are still alive ..JJ loved the gum nuts....I hosed down the tree branches first and soaked them in the laundry tub for a while before putting them in the cages..I had a small jar tied to the corner of the cage to have the branches sit in water the jar was completely blocked with the branches so no chanch on the fids gettiing into the jar..Kept the foliage fresh for 3 to 4 days ...

P.S ...Lillipilli trees plus the fruit are also enjoyed by the fids(and by hubby Joe) ...here is a view of the jar I tie in the corner of the cage ...
Buddy isn`t interested in trees or flowers and Sunny use to be when JJ was here but he doesn`t tend to bother any more maybe its just our native fids that like the native bush ..

Thanx Majj.
Our lorry Radar loved the native flowers, he was like a crazy addict when he saw them, getting his next fix.
LOL
I am not sure if Donut will freak when he sees them, but I thought they might make a nice natural treat for him.
Thanx again.
Luv the pics, they are so clear.

Oh Majj.....What is JJ? He is gorgeous! We do not have trees with fruit like that here that our birds can eat. At least not that I am aware of. If so would someone please let me know what they are. You guys make me want to move to Aust. to live.

Be cautious of pesticides, and insecticides especially the systemic variety.

I second that, just make sure they haven't been sprayed with pesticides, especially systemic...which gets into everything, even the nectar in flowers.
