Hi all ..

Okay .. so I'm a bit confused about he whole snuggle hut thing. I've read that some people put the huts so one end faces a wall or the back of a cage .. then I've read that some position theirs's so that both ends of the hut are accessible to their FID so they don't feel trapped.

Both theories make sense .. but which is better? I want to offer my FID a sense of security in his hut, so I've got mine with one end flush against the back of his cage .. then again, I'm wondering if it does make him feel trapped, since it would be difficult for him to get out of it from the end that backs up against his cage.

Thoughts? Comments??

Thanks!!

All of mine are hung from the top of the cage with each end accessible and a rope perch running under the hut so that they can get in from either end or out from either end. The openings are facing the front and back of the cage. They seem to like it that way best, although they usually go in the back side of it and face out the front. But if they get scared they can back out of the hut if the want.

Mine are hung in a back corner, at the top, but enough room is left at the back so they feel they have an escare route out the back door if needed. Mine love theirs even though it doesn't take Bo (Sun Conure) long to shred one. He chewed windows in his so he could see out both sides, then he chewed the bottom out. Now he has a tent with a perch in it. laugh.gif He chews up everything. One hole in his Jolly ball is now twice as big as it was and one of his ladders has only 2 rungs left. Silly bird.
Kiwi (QP) never chews on her hut. She uses it for a Gourmet Restaurant in the day time and a bedroom at night. She keeps hers very clean. wub.gif

I don`t have one I have a jolly ball but I would have it up high with access both ends as Yon has said..Just try either way to see which your fid likes.... smile.gif

Clyde's is hung so that entry and exit are accessible from either end, with a short perch at each end close enough to his big rope perch that a quick hop is all it takes to get to his treehouse's front or back door. biggrin.gif I don't think he'd need it backed up to something to feel secure since it's dark and cozy inside, and in fact I think he's a bit claustrophobic, so he wouldn't like having one end closed anyway.
