Hi! I'm new to Quakers - I got a pair from a gentleman that needed to rehome his last Wednesday. I have them in separate cages and have been taking them out one at a time for one on one time. I use a towel to get them out of their cage...it's a fight but they are sweet once they're out.

The question I have today is about Girlie's head-bobbing. I took her into another room to hang out while I read a book. She actually relaxed a bit and started chewing on some beads. She also "fluffed" up...sign of relaxing, right? But then she started nodding...a lot...I was wondering if this was still a fear response?

Thanks for the help tongue.gif

If she puffed up for you, it means she likes you and wants you to think she's pretty! biggrin.gif Clyde bobs his head when he's playing or acting silly, so I don't think it's a sign of anything wrong. He only does it when he's playing. And a frightened bird wouldn't play with toys. I'm sure Girlie's fine. Has she wagged her tail for you yet? That's hilarious. Clyde will puff up and then shake his tailfeathers and make this little purr sound when he's especially pleased with himself.

louie nods his head up and down whenever i change his cage around and add something new. so i believe they do that sometimes when they are feeling a little insecure in their surroundings. give it some time and i'm sure the nodding will taper off.

Sweetie bobs her head most of the time..She does it in time to music, when I ask her questions and sometimes when she's talking. She'll also preen me,then bob her head quite vigourously,so I think she does her headbobbing when she's happy.
