Awww, I love budgies! They're so cheerful and interested in everything and their chirping and even their squawking is so cute.
Maybe you could start with wet lettuce to get them to try fresh foods. My budgie Bonnie took to lettuce immediately and just loves it, and I'm reasonably sure she'd never seen it before because she came from Petsmart and they didn't have any fresh foods in the "bin o' budgies" (to borrow a phrase from another site) where she was living. She tried some carrot last night but wasn't terribly fond of it and she won't eat potatoes (Clyde LOVES potatoes, fried, mashed, baked, he doesn't care). I'm trying to figure out what else she might be willing to try.
I actually have some kale at home now so I'll try that first. I did put a few peas in their bowl the other day and when I came back one of the peas had been moved and dropped on the floor (not eaten though

), but at least one of them was interested!

Congrats on adopting the budgies!
May I recommend that you don't convert them to pellets... Budgies are seed eaters and actually need the seed in their diet.

Our budgies eat seed but we also have a small bowl of pellets in their cage for variety that they munch on periodically but the seed should always be available.
Like Siobhan said, they seem to like green leafy things to play with. Our love if we give him a big piece of wet romaine lettuce or a floret of broccoli.
Hopefully Darwin likes chatting away with them, that's one thing I love about the budgies, they keep Casey company when we're not home, we've dubbed them the living radio!
Good luck!

Thanks, I think I will definitely always have some seed for them. And they love the occasional millet spray, but I would still like them to eat pellet because I know it will hold a little higher nutritional value for them then seed alone...especially right now because they won't eat any fresh foods
