I did ALL of my dental work at the same time and opted for sedation dentistry. It cost a bit of extra cash but it was well worth it! They did all the work in 1 session and it was AWESOME.

I have a pretty high pain tolerance (it's a blessing and a curse because as my doctor found out when I do show up at his door something is REALLY wrong at that point because I just haven't noticed before). I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed (all surgical removals as they were growing in sideways or something), a root canal and 7 fillings done all at the same time. The dentist gave me all kinds of Rx for painkillers after but I honestly found that I didn't need any of them. I think I took 1 regular tylonal and that was it. I even ate solid food the next day without complaint.

The biggest thing about wisdom tooth removal is to let your jaw go slack. Since I was under sedation I was completely relaxed when they removed mine so I didn't bruise or get chipmonk cheeks.

Stock up on soft creamy foods and liquids before you get them out as that is likely to be what you eat for the next few days after. The Jello cheesecake cups are delicious! biggrin.gif

I'm with Jamie...go for the sedation!!! I had my wisdom teeth out MANY years ago...all 4 at once, they were impacted so I had to be put under as well for oral surgery. Other than my jaws being a bit swollen afterwards, there wasn't a lot of pain involved at all (once they were gone....now before was another story). Right now I am in desperate need of some dental work done, I have a broken molar that's been broken for years now...but good grief, dentists are too expensive. LOL...all my money goes "to the birds"...nothing left over for my own teeth!!!!

Good luck Jessica! I hope it's not too bad for ya!

Ouch! Sorry your dealing with this...darn teeth anyway dry.gif
I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled about 25 years ago, so I don't remember much about it. I do know I was knocked out when they did it. I did get the swollen cheeks but only for a few days, and I don't remember that much pain after. Must have been on good meds wink.gif

Thanks for all the support lol I got a dentist appointment for this Monday, but now I'm confused, I woke up this morning, and no pain? I dunno where it went but that's fine with me! I know my wisdom teeth are messed up though, last time I was at the dentist and they took x-rays they showed them to me and they are all completely sideways! blink.gif So we are gonna get those suckers out, and no way am I going to the dentist without sedation lol, don't have to tell me twice laugh.gif

Mine were doing that as well and never gave me any pain, however they started to destroy the roots on my other molars so they DO need to come out most of the time.

If sedation dentistry is too expensive (it's about $400 more here) then the next best option is to see your doctor and get a prescription for adavan (sp?). They will often give out adavan Rx for anxious patients smile.gif

$400? ouch....glad I still live with my parents! LOL thanks for the advice though I'll take some of that if we can't afford it

You are not going to believe it, but my mouth is FULL of fillings! Thankfully, thanks to my better cleaning techniques, and going to the dentist every 6 months, I don't get as many any more. Thankfully, I get 80% coverage at work, so I only have to pay 20% of total bill.

I actually like my dentist, I've had the same one since I was born...so he really knows my teeth! Although, I never liked getting fillings done when I was younger, but if I didn't..what state would my mouth be in today?!?

Besides a mouth full of fillings, I have had a root canal and my 3 wisdom teeth pulled out (non-surgical)...my 4th one never came in!

Oh, my fav thing about going to dentist is all the free stuff they give you..I always get extra..they even gave me stuff to take on plane on my Costa Rica Trip...small enough to take aboard. smile.gif
