Hi, I am new here but I had a quaker who will be painfully missed. We got him as a baby just over a year ago and was one of the family. He suddenly about 6 months ago started feather plucking and mutilitation. We took him to an avian vet who tried a mite treatment, then a collar which cut his neck, He then said it was due to the wife being pregnant but on Monday said he had aspergillus. No tests just based on his breathing but he unfortunately died on Thursday night/Friday morning. Still very curious why this happened, he had a great diet and clean environment. Was it this or something else, who knows. RIP Inca

Oh I am SO SORRY!! That sounds a bit bizarre about the vet saying it was due to your wife being pregnant, and I've also never seen a bird with any sort of a collar. I truly feel for you. Our quaker is in the hospital right now very ill, and we are so worried about him. My thoughts are with you and your wife.
I noticed that you are in the UK. My husband is from Exeter, and he said he had never seen a quaker in England. What part do you live in?
Again, so sorry for your loss. I'm sorry I'm not much help on the why's of it all, but I hope you find some peace of mind.

I'm sooo sorry for your loss. *hus* from across the miles..
I cant see how its due to your wife being preggo.. i'm almost 4 months pregnant and I'm sure our quaker has picked up on my extra horomones and he's been just fine.. maybe others will have more insight as to what could have caused such a sudden death..
again so sorry your having to deal with this..

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.
Our thoughts are with you.
I too have never heard of issues with birds & pregnancies.
It seems odd.
