2008 has been my worst year for drawings, I have thrown out more bad drawings this year than my entire life probably...but I finished this one at 3:00am last night and I actually like it, my first good wolf wub.gif

Made with mechanical pencil and blending stump on normal printer paper smile.gif Stupid scanner made it look pretty bad though...

Edit: Oh and this is the reference picture:

THAT is VERY nice! I have drawn since I was 4 and painted since I was 6. I am now 71, so go figure and you know I am OLD OLD OLD, but I still feel 25 every day of my life. I feel that art helps me feel young and I thank God for every minute of it. I paint almost all day every day and paint 18 hours a day during the holidays, but NEVER, NEVER tire of it.

When I am teaching someone to paint, there is one thing I never forget to tell them. DON'T be so tough on yourself. If you live to be 100, you will always be your own worst critic. Just remember that the paintings and drawings that you criticize the harshest are the first ones to sell if you put them all out for the public to see.

DO NOT be so quick to throw any more away. Someone will want them! Trust me on that!
Best wishes with all of your drawings and be thankful for the ability. wub.gif

PS: I don't draw stick figures either. Artists are not fond of straight lines.

YES! Be very please with that one, it is beautiful. That wolf has personality and you put it in him ... how cool is THAT?!

Hey, I just had a philosophical moment.... Did you ever read in the Bible that God breathed into Adam and he became a living soul ?
That's what artists do with their work .... they make it in their image (which I consider the image you have in your head when you create) and then breathe into it ....

Oh woooowwww, man ... that's deep ... *snapping fingers*

I have two words for you "Awesome" so good that I completely forgot the second word! nice work. When I was making a hobby out of writing, and writing songs for cigarette money. I would often have writers block, nothing seemed to fit together. It got to the point where I was writing 20 different things a day and didn't like a single one of them. I started cataloging them, and would come back to them later on. Some people like to rent a cabin and unwind a little. It important to unwind any kinks in your mind. Let the creativity flow. Just try to keep a control on your creativity. Also don't be so picky either. I mean look at ralph steadman's beautiful art. So many artist would call that lost art, but then again some people have that art tattooed on them. So I guess the point I'm trying to make is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and not specifically the creator. Once again AWESOME wolf!

I don't even know what to say guys! smile.gif I'm really glad you all like it biggrin.gif Now I gotta go draw a zebra (I dunno why but those stripes are fun to draw LOL) and a bird!

One thing I find interesting though is I ALWAYS have to have a reference picture, I can't just envision something in my head and draw it, it has to be on a photo which is why I usually do realistic pictures and portraits...

Another deep thought ... it's a quote by Michaelangelo: "I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free." Looks like you have the same magic with wolves! NICE JOB!!! rolleyes.gif
