My bird's cage is in the same room as my bed and lately it sounds like he's falling asleep before me because I hear this strange, steady little grunt coming from his cage. I have heard him trying to mimic my snoring right as I'm falling off to sleep so maybe he's just copying me. Does anyone know. Could this be a respiratory problem?

only if someone else in their house snores. They pick up the sound and mock it.

If it's not "snoring" or a health problem than it's most likely beak grinding. They tend to do this when they are very content or tired.

Yes, I love the beak grinding noise.
This "snoring noise" is really different. I most definitely admit that I snore. I've even wondered if it keeps him up at night but I think he'd let me know if it got on his nerves.
This sound just like a baby's snore. He mimics my yawns so he might have decided that snoring is the "correct" way to sleep.

Snoring is a new one on me but I have a conure who talks and laughs in her sleep. I'm going to have to listen more closely at night to see if my Quakers snore. Heaven knows I DON'T SNORE! hee hee hee

My QP grinds his beak every night as he's falling asleep. Once in a while, I do hear what I would call an actual "snore" from him while he's sound asleep. It's very faint and rather distinctive. Glad to know he's not so unusual, nor me for listening so keenly LOL! :-)
