Hi, Welcome to the forum!!
Your little one's whole world has just completely changed. He sees and hears things he never knew existed. The only world he ever knew has vanished and he has no idea what to expect.
Just give him some time to get used to this new universe and the people in it. Sit near his cage and talk to him, sing to him and maybe offer a little treat occasionally. After he settles a bit, open his cage door so he can venture out when he feels ready.
He'll come around.

Hello. Welcome to the forum.
I too am new to the world of quakers.
I agree with QPDad. I've only had mine for two weeks and am also experiencing. I have decided to give mine some space to let him get used to things. I spend a lot of time talking, dancing and singing to him.
Mine aslo flies away. But is definitely quite the talker. I have never heard a bird that rambles on and on and on and on like the Energizer Bunny.
Don't give up. Mine has made progress in the last few days.

I have had my blue qp for 10 days and he has come a long way already. Santana wouldn't even sit on a perch without flying away until he was with me for a week. So be patient and he will become comfortable and start acting like himself. Good luck!

Hi, I am new to the forum. My family and I have decided to take in a Quaker that was no longer wanted by a family. We get him at the beginning of next week. I have never owned a bird before and I am trying to gather as much info was I can. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi and welcome~! Just let him settle in for a while,at his own pace.Move slowly and quietly around him while you're feeding, changing his cage, etc.and talk to him softly,he'll come around. His whole world,as he knew it,has changed and he'll need some time to adjust.
