Dumplin'
Yesterday I put the dogs in the garage and took Dumplin' outside and oooh! did he loooove it! He was in birdy heaven climbing up the bushes and running around the yard, eating the grass (hopefully grass is not poisonous!) He was rubbing his beak on the branches and was so content. (There is a gate around my house).

wub.gif Dumplin is such a great looking bird, I would be very careful about taking him outside without being in a cage or a feather teather etc, it only takes one moment of fright to be gone forever, and that would be so sad. ohmy.gif

OH MY GOSH!!! What color is THAT!????
Where do you get one like that?
Why is he that color???
OH MY GOSH!!

that said, or that yelled,
I knew someone who lost a bird because it simply went up a tree, then began hopping from branch to branch and ended up lost....
I'd love to take mine out, but heck, that is how I GOT him, he got away from someone, somewhere!
He is too pretty to risk,, how old is he? and again,
WHY IS HE THAT COLOR,,
it is too cool.

He is gorgeous, but like others said, be careful about taking him out. Even CLIPPED, the wind can catch him just right and you may never see him again.
That's how I got my Sun Conure. He was clipped and still came from quite far away. By the time I found his ownwer, they had gotten another bird and said keep him, but told me how they lost him. He was from over 100 miles away! PLEASE be careful.
I cry when I hear people have lost their birds that way because there are a lot of hungry hawks out there and that scares me to death.

I echo the beautiful bird comment! I would be careful about fertilizer or pesticide being in the grass and YES, keep him harnessed somehow. I'd hate to have you loose you little beauty

Wow he is absolutely amazing. I love the colors, never seen anything like it before!
Yogi's_mom
Wow!!!

Nice pictures wub.gif

I am blown away by his colouring though. Is he a different sub-species, or a cross between a yellow and a green, like a yellow split to green??

How wild is that.. I would probably have called him Tweety <giggle>.

Dumplin, I was kinda wondering...In your first post you said you were living in Mexico right now. Does that mean if you decide to move, say Im assuming back to the USA Or wherever..are ya going to be able to take your bird with ya? Cuz if you can I think you need to gather up a bunch of those yellow headed boys and bring them to all your friends here in the states. rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

Wow, Dumplin is totally wicked looking! He must be wearing a mask. How old do you think he is? Did the guy selling him charge you more for his colors?

ltlmexico
Wow, what amazing pictures, he is beautiful! I have seen various quaker mutations, but never a yellow head. Just out of curiosity, what part of Mexico are you in? I have been there quite a few times, my husband is Mexican, so we go to visit.I have never seen QPs for sale in my travels. Many amazons and other parrots. I am just wondering if the bird was bred, or if it was wild caught and I know most parrots in Mexico are. My nephew has red lored amazons that he has caught and keeps as pets.

The man that I bought him from said he was 4 months old. (5 months old now). And you are NEVER going to believe how much I payed for him!!! Aaaahh!! ok, first let me say that the man did NOT even know what kind of bird he was, therefore I do not think he knows that he had a RARE one, that could be sold for Thousands of dollars. so anyways.....
ok.....((((((((((((((((((((((((((((DRUMROLL)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
)))))))
I paid $50 bucks for him. ya, really.
he could'a gotten SO much more for him! But...his loss and DEFINATELY my gain. heehee. Dumplin' is such a sweety!

I am in the state of Puebla, in the capital...Puebla. It's about 2 hours south of Mexico City.
Sorry, I have no info about his background! wink.gif

WOW!!! 50.00???? That is amazing! Even the greens, which are quite common here, go for about 200.00 in the pet shops...blues about 450.00, so I can't imagine how much a bird like that would sell for here!! How lucky are you???
